DMV temp registration/ out of state transfer

So just to clarify my above post, if you are registering an out of state Taco, you need a weight certificate... even if it's non comm. I just learned this after waiting a fucking hour in line... previous vehicles from out of state that I registered had always been bikes or SUVs so they didn't need a weight.

It has to be from a state certified weighmaster. You can google "CA certified weighmasters" for a county by county list.

So, you need, in total:

Title
Smog (from a state certified tech who is approved to do out of state vehicles)
Weight (from certified weightmaster)
California DL
DMV form "Reg 343"

 

Did they change something with that? When I brought mine in from Oregon, I just needed to get it smogged and then inspected by DMV with all the fees. Never seen someone need to get it weighed.

If you're a member of AAA you can take care of everything there and avoid the hellish nightmare that is CA DMV. And you will have to get it weighed.
