Do i have a RR Diff lock in my 96?

    An easy way to spot one is to note where the drain plug is. At least on 1st gens, if the drain plug is on the passenger side, it is the newer, bigger diff housing which never has the TRD e-locker in it.

    If the drain plug is on the driver side, it is the older, 8" ring diff housing. This is the one used on 1st gen TRDs.

    Pretty easy to spot with a glance underneath. You can do it when driving behind a tacoma too, just going down the road.

    But there are good aftermarket lockers ,they too are pricey as hell...;)

    All the dashes are the same for all Tacoma models of the same year.

    For example, I have a 2006 subaru legacy and at a certain angle I can see the "low wiper fluid indicator" however only JDM versions (read: not US) actually have that feature.
