Your positive it is ATF and not engine oil ?

How many quarts of transmission Fluid do you need to add every day??

First step would be to wash everything off and figure out where it is coming from.

then you would have a better idea.

Place a pan with a white paper towel under the "leak".

The color of the fluid should give a clue to its origin.

Another technique is to clean and dry the area. Then puff some powder in the area. Any powder will work, flour, corn starch, talcum. The fluid will make a track in the powder leading to the location.

Does your truck have trans cooler hard lines up against the tranny on one side? I developed a pinhole leak from corrosion in one of mine there and it eventually started slipping and banging shifts. The leak was only visible whilst the engine was running and once the fluid got on other stuff it did make it more confusing as to where it might be coming from. Have at look at yours and see if it makes sense that the fluid could be coming down from these lines. I curse the fact that Toyota did not give us tranny dipsticks else I would have caught this problem sooner.

Here is my thread on this... ignore the first 34 posts... that was just speculation about possible electronic causes until I discovered the leak... shown in post #35. Pic of new part installed in post #42.

I learned about the powder method when I was restoring my motorcycle.

It was near complete except for aesthetics. I was riding every day with no issues. Suddenly, it developed a leak. I searched and searched, dropped the engine......replace gaskets, o-rings and all sorts of parts. The leak persisted with a small puddle under the bike, although the engine oil level didn't change. I had been chasing this for about 2 weeks. One night, I was consuming a beer while plowing through the repair manuals in a generally sour funk and grumbling. My wife, sheepishly said she needed to tell me something. I wasn't in the mood, I grumbled, "Leave me alone, I need to concentrate to fix this leak." "Well....." she replied, "I know what is causing the leak." "What?" She handed me a bottle of cooking oil. "I've been making the puddle under the bike.":mad::mad: "WHY!?" "I didn't want you to be in the house while I was doing taxes.":eek::eek: "Dammit! So, you are the leak.......... Leave me alone." I went to the garage and spent another day to assemble the engine and mount it to the bike.

I did get an apology pecan pie and special happy time.

Ever since then, I always check the color and smell of a leak puddle.

Yeah, I know......I was dumbfounded at the time.

Since then, she doesn't mess about in the garage or my wood shop.

Females can be sneaky and under-handed.
