I was under the truck yesterday and noticed the rear leafs looked like they were in negative arch. I took a measurement with the bed unloaded except for the bed mat. The front shackle was 13.5" from the bottom of the lowest leaf. The second measurement was taken from the bottom of the lowest leaf where it sits on the rear axle and that was 16". Am I right to assume this is negative arch and me springs need replacing? The springs are the stock 2+1 with no TSB.

EDIT: My truck is on the list for the spring recall.

I had high hopes for the leaf replacement but if anything it actually made my truck droop MORE. The new leaf springs are just as bad if not worse than the old ones.

If you have a second gen Tacoma with OEM springs, you have leaf sag.

Leaf spring swap really isn't bad at all. I thought the brake lines were harder to do. Lol

Flat / Negative arch is normal for stock Tacoma leaf springs. Toyota designed it this way.

I would get the recall springs installed before you buy Dakars or whatever and here's why. Toyota will get to break all the rusty fasteners loose for you and you'll have a new set of springs to sell. Not sure because I had the frame replaced at the same time but the recall may include new shackles and other hardware. I was able to get the heavy duty replacements because I had gotten the "harsh ride TSB" done years ago. The new springs are working fine for me and if they start to sag in the future I'll look into spending my money instead of Toyota's.

    They're designed to be flat.

I think the TSB ends with 2011s.

The oem springs have a 'negative' arch. Mine were the same way. Now, if they are old and worn, obviously they will sag more.

That sucks. Mine are being done right now, hoping they work out well enough until I decide on a replacement leaf pack.

If you're looking for a cheap and easy fix for the time being, the icons, or similar 3 leaf spring pack, will give you a slight lift and make it ride better. Mine rides way better now than just the factory springs.
