Do I HAVE to call it a TACO? Not calling my first new car a mexican treat/Corvette insult..

Welcome and congrats on the purchase! If I can offer one bit of advice, hold off for a few months on making any mods/upgrades. Spend some time here on TW, browse around, look at what other folks are doing/saying about their trucks. Check in on the regional threads, see what local Tacoma owners are up to. Stack your cash, and make some fun but educated purchases. Not to say that nerf bars or brush guards aren't good, you just may find that your preferences change after spending some time here in the TW community. And if not, all the better, but at least you won't have spent a bunch of $ only to realize in a month or two that you want to upgrade.

I can't tell you how many folks you see on here with the same story. "I don't really off-road, so a spacer lift and some flimsy side steps are great for my needs". Then 60 days later they realize how much fun wheeling their truck is, and how much potential there is for awesomeness, and they are listing their recents purchased stuff on the buy/sell/trade thread and sourcing a proper coilover lift and some badass rock sliders (which make excellent steps, as another member stated, a bit of grip tape on the steel will make them very functional as steps).

Just my 2.5 cents, again, welcome aboard.

And let's see some pics of that corvette!!

I always got a kick out of the irony that Tacos aren't assembled in Mexico..

As for the sliders/nerf debacle the sliders can support the weight of the truck, nerf bars cannot. Thus, sliders are a useful point to jack from. Nerf bars are cheaper though, which is nice just so long as you don't treat them like part of the frame. I think a set of sliders is in my future.. good luck with whichever direction you end up going though, and heed the advice of waiting a couple months before biting on any mods/upgrades. Plenty of great info here that deserves your attention and consideration. All the best and have fun with your new truck man!

At least you don't have some butthead calling your TRD a shiny turd like I did. Needless to say I wasn't very happy and put him in his place about his P.O.S.
