I would say no ..it’s a lease only thing u need is the insurance to cover any damages to the truck . Unless your looking to purchase after lease then u can skip that also .

Toyota Finance manager here. The people that say no, its a Toyota are the first people who call ask for a manager and say "i hope you stand by your product" I always show them the menu i presented them where they declined extra coverage. I sold my self a Toyota Vsa (Vehicle service agreement) I used my factory 3 year 36k warranty in 13 months, i commute to work and i plan on keeping this vehicle for a while. obviously i did not pay $2,800 for it. I would call a few dealers and get pricing. if you have any questions let me know.

of course i do, since when is it a bad thing to make money? Guess what the person who sold you your tacoma made a commission on you and so did the person that sold you your house so on.... Its not a bad thing for someone to get coverage if its a reasonable deal.

I have never bought an extended warranty on any make or model and haven’t been bitten yet.

Lack of Gap Insurance cost me 5 grand when I put my WRX in the tweeds and totaled it before my first payment however.

Not everything they’re selling is useless, and a good extended warranty at the very least provides peace of mind. How much that assurance is worth to a person is for them to decide.

Dealer warranties are a rip off u can buy extended and gap threw your bank of choice at a fraction of the cost that dealers charges . Don’t be that guy .... but the finance guy told me it’s a great deal .. those guys can give a crap about you they just want your money .

Dealerships push these extended warranties because they are very lucrative. They have $2,800 of your money, today, and have zero risk for the next 2-3 years and only marginal risk after that. Why not keep the $2,800 in some investment vehicle yourself rather than letting the warranty company have it?

When i bought my 14 used from a Toyo dealer it was not Toyota certified a lot of their other Tacos where.
I asked why not and they gave me some garbage reason
We worked a deal for the taco with the price lower and a warranty but that would be a separate payment
When i when home i found out it was not a Toyota warranty
I canceled it and got my money back on warranty
Since I had the cash i went to a different dealer and bought the warranty about $1400
I did use it in a CV boot replacement and still have about 7months left
It’s up to you but I would shop around you can get them cheaper

I got more pressure from the finance manager trying to sell me the extended warranty than i did negotiating a fair price with my sales manager.
After he tried tightening a few screws down with a fairly long rubber hosing i cheerfully declined.

With all the electronics and tight tolerances in modern cars I opted for the warranty on my Tacoma but I also plan to keep this truck until you can no longer get gasoline. For $30/month on my car payment I felt it was justifiable.
My new Scion had to have major electrical work and fortunately it was under factory warranty.
My new Suburban was a nightmare, tons of warranty work on it. Thanks to the horrible, shitty Vortec engine it had the heads replaced, the fuel pressure regulator went out, and a transmission seal failed. I did manage to get a decade of service out of it as a work truck before it was towed away.
I've had a few small warranty things on my wife's Prius and Mazda.

In the 20 years I have been driving every vehicle I've owned has been driven into the ground, 8 vehicles of which - 5 ended their life on a flatbed, 2 traded to dealers near death, and my Scion that I sold to my brother lasted 3 months, it was totaled by a car sliding into him on an icy road.
I refuse to let my Tacoma die, for once I want a vehicle to survive so that's why I opted for the warranty.

I’ll assume you leased it from a Toyota dealership. If so just have them CPO before purchasing the it’s covered for 7 years from original put into service date or 100k. You’ll get 12month/12k comprehensive and 7yr 100k power train. 1yr roadside asst.

Why doesn’t the dealer just CPO the truck? Oh wait, then he wouldn’t need that $2800 cash cow the finance mgr wants to sell him.

Is the vsa and the 8-10/125 factory extended warranty the same thing? Could you clarify?
I see the 8-10 year olds between 1300-1700$

    Thanks !

Yes, shame on them for trying to make a living and feed their families like the rest of us... I.M.O. if one gets an extended at a Reasonable price with today's complicated vehicles then go for one. Reasonable price of 1500.00 (?) / by 60 months = $25.00 a month

I would definitely say to get it. On my truck most recently (although not through extended warranty), I had the qi wireless charger replaced and the rear suspension replaced twice.
My prior vehicle, a 2013 corolla, had the brakes replaced on all 4 wheels, the timing chain, compressor, and engine replaced at various points throughout the extended warranty. If I didn't have the warranty I'm not sure if I would still have the car, or if I would have given it up years ago when the timing chain was problematic.

My finance guy got pissed when I turned down his extended warranty. That shows you he was only after the $. Why else would he get mad?

I had a Toyota finance guy get mad when I told him I was paying cash for my wife's new Camry. He wanted to sell me a loan as they get kickbacks for that too.

My google search skills are usually pretty good, but I can't seem to find anyone advertising selling Toyota VSA - everything I click on just takes me to the dealerships main webpage.

Are there specific Toyota dealers out there known for selling VSA's at a good price?

I'm considering buying (if I can get a good deal) before my 3/36 runs out in April.
