    Haha is it Friday?

    My lift and 285’s make it so much faster!
    Not looking for speed just daily and playing when I can.

    Anyway congrats man!

    I do have a 3 inch lift so that probably affects it a little. But yeah, I’m not going for horsepower. I was just curious. I got the tune to stop the gear hunting mainly and that definitely worked. Also pedal response. And the truck drives so much better. But really, the most noticeable improvement of horsepower came when I installed the S&B Cold air intake. That was my very first mod.

    Cam gear mod and a tune do. Incremental but a big improvement.

    I don't think a cam gear will help the 3.5 since it has vvt on the exhaust cam already.

    Magnuson TVS1900 Supercharger with 87mm pulley, Catted OVTune dumptubes, Doug Thorley 2.5in y-pipe, custom mufflers, 76mm Tundra throttle body, 5.29 Yukon gears, JamesT custom fuel rails, Yotawerx 87mm tune, Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension. And some other stuff.
    From my experience the most impactful mods from greatest impact to least:

    Supercharger + tune + gears(5.29) = WOW
    tune + gears = Nice!
    gears = pretty good
    tune = not bad

    Does nothing:
    CAI
    High flow intake
    cat back

    My setup is: Supercharger, Yotaworx Tune, 5.29 gears, cat'ed dump tubes, 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back, Tundra 76mm throttle body, JamesT fuel rails, maybe a couple other things I forget. I dyno'ed it (before Yotaworx improved their tune so it might be a little more power) and I got 331HP at the wheels (33") and estimated 397HP at crank.

    that’s a lot of horsepower for a Tacoma. Have you tested your 0 to 60? Be interested in seeing that!

    Watching your video vs other YouTube 0-60s, seems the same. I'd rather see a stock tune truck with stock gears vs a stock tune truck with 5.29 gears.

    I do find it interesting that everybody is saying cold air intakes do not increase horsepower. Could it be that the S&B is on a level all of its own? Because it basically uses the same concept as the stock airbox of the Tacoma, but has An extra inlet in the front thereby giving more induction capability. Whereas most other cai’s Are open to the engine bay And not pulling the air from outside.

    No, because the stock intake was not the bottleneck of the engine's output. These aren't the barrel-carb engines of the 70's. The engine already has more air than it can handle, which is then dialed back and electronically metered at the valves. Providing an even bigger supply of air isn't going to do anything, nor will piping in air samples from the grille vs the fender well. Its all the same air, and its fed at all the same temperature.

    But if the shape of the tube makes a fun brrrt sound, hey, I'm glad you are happy.

    It could be....but it's more likely that people who spend $500 on an intake are looking for reasons to feel better about their purchase.

    Actually, 350. But no, I just know how much of an improvement they gave me when I installed it. I even took my wife out in it and she was shocked at how much power it had compared to before. The first time I punched it, It redline first and second gear. Never done that before. Also, you could feel the increased acceleration. I’m sure guys who have s&b cai’s Can attest to the same thing.

    Before and after dyno test (preferably on the same dyno) is the best way to be sure. I can say with 99.9% certainty that my catback didn't do jack for HP. And I wasn't expecting it to.

    Not just butt dyno, his wife's butt dyno. I think they call that third party testing, so an actual dyno would just be a wasteful formality at this point.
