What's the Cost of the 2 piece you're looking at and what are the benefits?

 

I had my TSB done yesterday and the truck rides "like" a truck NOW! I would recommend it for sure! The bill was $1500.00, and happily covered by Toyota. Also, it was noticeably nose heavy as soon as I picked it up, and the headlights of course point much farther down.

I'm going to give it time as many have said and see if the leaf pack settles. Although, I'm already looking at grabbing the 5100's for the front and doing a 1.75" lift.

by the way, the shudder in the tranny is why i first took my prerunner in. They said it was the drive shaft. It was under warranty so they repaced it for free. It came back. I took it in again. The whole tranny had to be repaced. guess what. not under warranty! the dealer says its a 5-7k fix. I told them to fuck themselves. Talked to the service manager, and owner of dealership. Ive bought 5 cars from these guys and never had so many issues. Well they fixed the whole thing for 500. Wont ever go back to bill penny in huntville al again.

 

Cape Codder, my leaf springs look exactly like the picture you posted, FLAT, I have a Leer 100XL cap, wt. = 215 lbs. and bed mat, nothing else in or on truck bed. I went over to a local dealer this morning and looked at most of the Tacomas on the lot, various models, ALL of their "leaf" springs looked the same as yours and mine - FLAT - (they were all "3 packs")

I have about 1500 miles / 6 mo. old, on the truck, the only thing I noticed after I had the Cap installed was that the "ride" seemed to "soften" a bit - when I sit on the Tailgate or climb into the back of the Truck, there is NO noticeable depression of the suspension, I weigh about 180 lbs.

I have never felt the Truck "bottom out" during normal driving but I have never had a very heavy load in the box either -

There is NO "sway" at all when making turns, truck is tight and stays upright -

Not sure if I want to have the Leaf Spring TSB done or not, I think a lot of guys get it done just because it is available, not because they need it - I will wait and see how the truck reacts if and when I move a heavy load, the TSB will always be there to use down the road if need be -

 

My springs look flat too, but like said before I think they all look that way. The heaviest load I carry is my atv wich weighs about 500lbs. I don't bottom out or anything so I never had the tsb done. I have a slight shutter under hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. It's probably just a little bit of axle wrap due to my truck having so much power!:biggrin: you could try a traction bar to help that? Bud built makes them for our trucks. They're around $500.

 

I have a 2010 Sport 4x4 and had mine approved to be replaced today. I have 2700 miles on mine. If you have 3 leaf springs instead of 4 and have a 4x4 then you can get them replaced with 4.

See If I Have This Right. You Did an "Add A Leaf", Not the TSB?. Both would be going from 3 Leafs to 4 Leafs? Incredible difference in the Bump Stop Gap. I don't think Mine are anywhere near as close as Your Before Pic. Thanks for the Pictures

 

Take a look at the first picture i posted, again. My Springs aren't Flat, they're a "W". They Curve Over the Axle, So that the Axel is the High Point, and They Slope Down from the Axle, front and back, then Curve back Up to the Shackles, front and back. Guess the Pics didn't pick up the Shackles, but you get the picture? I don't ever remember seeing a spring with the Axel as the high point. And there's Pics of the Bump Stops that Show Impact, though I didn't feel it Bottom Out. They Never should have Touched, 'cause there's never (1700 mi) been more than the Cap and Bed Mat in the Truck. I have my Solara for the Soft Ride, an Old Honda Shadow as my Convertible. I bought a Truck to have a TRUCK. I don't want to Carry a load and find I'm blinding approaching aircraft.

 

I seem to get the Shudder with maybe 1/4 throttle up to 5 - 10 mph. I've only got on it a couple of times (in 1700 mi) and I think it had subsided long before 20 mph. Good Excuse to Stomp on it, and pay attention. It IS annoying and just doesn't feel right. I'm sure I'll be told it's inherent in the vehicle or something. but I will bring it up. Springs and Tranny are the immediate concerns
