Do you have a vibration buzzing sound from under glove box?

Discussion in '3rd Gen. Tacomas (2016-2023)' started by OhioTaco68, Oct 12, 2016.

?

Was the screw loose holding your kick panel causing the sound described ?

So cast my vote as no. This was not my issue. I'm starting to think it's a plastic piece only viable when the front side passenger door is open. It's the side of the dash. Driving me flipping nuts.

Man...same here. I was really hoping this was going to be the fix. The nut was loose but I heard the buzzing on the way to work this morning......I know this truck will have a lot more rattles in the next few years so just going to try and ignore the buzz for now.

So behind those two staples to the top left center of the pic is a sheet of paper or something attached by those staples. I am currently working on if that is what is causing my noise. Seems like the paper can intermittently vibrate against the metal washer/assembly behind it.

The more I listen the more it sounds like something electrical...its strange it ONLY make the noise while accelerating and almost seems like its coming from the passenger door speaker area.

If you get someone to ride in the passenger side and when you hear the vibration/buzzing sound have them press their foot firmly up above the floor mat .. you will hear the noise stop

Jon what you described is exactly what I’m hearing. Sounds electrical and drives me insane. I’m planning on trying to figure it out this weekend. Let me know what works for you!

You are correct in calling it a thumb screw, I was a GM tech for many years and that’s what those types of fasteners were called.

And now queue all GM and anything not Toyota haters lol...

I had this exact same issue. I was able to fix it by dampening some loose plastic pieces near the speaker - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/buzzing-while-accelerating.542461/

The thumb screw is tight. Still have a rattle near glove box. Have tried removing the side panel and air filter door and felt taped speaker grill etc. Interestingly, the rattle stops if I open glove box and lightly press on the open glove box door. Thoughts? I can’t figure out how to remove glove box door. May be a single unit? Thx.

To the OP THANK YOU!!! This seems to have worked for me. It was driving me absolute bonkers. It was almost as if the acoustics in the cabin directed the vibration straight into my right ear. There also seems to be a minor vibration in the wires behind the glove box. I haven’t quite decided whether or not to put something soft behind there to try and get rid of it. It’s crazy how something so seemingly insignificant can make the driving experience almost intolerable. After about one week, the annoying vibration is gone! Crossing my fingers that it stays that way.
