Wow you think that's bad? My first gen is a million times worse I wish it looked like that. I did get a new frame though.

It's hard to get the fanbois to admit they bought a truck that will be dust in 5 years or so. Keep at it. There are more people without their heads up toyotas ass.

Getting people in touch with the NHTSA & FTC, and possibly my lawyer to file complaints about rusting Tacomas and possibly ABS fails, was how I'm trying to help... It's not a pissing contest to see who has the most/least rust issues or perforations, or who has the best definition of "perforations". When they inspected my truck, they said the campaign on the east coast has nothing to do with west coast vehicles and the term perforations is loose. In the end, Toyota is still responsible for fixing my truck, and possibly others on TW.

Toyotas frames are garbage. Our 08 Honda CR-V has no frame rust and we live in the salt belt. It's never been rustproofed.

You can't compare that at all. Most unibody vehicles are galvanized steel and won't rust anywhere near as bad as an exposed steel frame.

But yes I agree with your first sentence.

Don't mind me. I must be opinionated and dense but I think the OP's time would be better spent applying some sort of rust inhibitor like Fluid Film to his frame than arguing with TW members and Toyota over the definition of "perforation".

Maybe someone could help me out here, but I'm not sure if I buy the "salt air" thing. Spray directly from the ocean sure, but in the air? I haven't taken chemistry since high school, but it seems to me that salt would be left behind when the water evaporates. In fact, I thought that is how you survive with only salt water, boil it off and channel it into another container, like a still. Isn't that why there are huge salt deposits at the salt lake flats and so on? Water evaporated and left the salt behind.

I could be completely wrong, if someone knows the scientific answer please let me know, I would like to know.

Arguing with TW members is like be held captive by ISIS, and then getting beheaded for all the world to see. :bananadead:

You're talking apples and oranges by comparing to desalination. Coastal air contains fine salt particulates (along with a bunch of other inorganic and organic shit) suspended in airborn water. Think mist and fog.

Yes, my dad's aluminum boat is covered with rust because the owner before him didn't use the zinc anodes and left it outside for 25 years... My truck is usually garaged by the way...

I lived in CA when I bought the truck, new. I moved up here last summer. Having to apply an anti-rust protectant is something I had thought Toyota would've done at the factory. Instead, I had to read about rust problems on an enthusiast website (TW) to know it was an issue, 5 years after the fact. I would not have bought the truck in the first place, let alone apply anti-rust treatment, if I had known there was a past rust issue with the Tacoma truck line. I'm sorry if you are taking some sort of offense by this thread, but I'm trying to protect the value of my truck and the money I paid for it. There is no mention anywhere in any warranty that I can't move across state lines or to an island. By pointlessly countering every single thing I've said, yes, you're a nazi. There has been no need for you to respond to this post, at any time.
