Yeah, I'm sure you'll be pointlessly hanging around in many people's threads telling them how wrong they are and then offer a condescending solution, after doing so.

Known to have rust issues, you know, like a poorly made piece of crap.
    1. Shouldn't have rust issues.
    2. Shouldn't have to apply rust inhibitor.
    3. Should be made better.

I made my claim during the warranty period, and still have until Oct. 2016 on my extended one. The rust is flaking and peeling and there's bubbles under the thin paint, which I'm not going to go poking at. I would never hit the frame with a hammer, and I most certainly will not be poking at rust spots while under warranty. The point is that it's too new, and still under warranty at time of claim. Your opinion is welcome, but not gospel. IMG_3202.jpg

But in all seriousness how confusing is this poll? What's the difference between "yes" and "a little" or "yes" and "a lot" ?

I don't know what to put!

Not to stir the pot but I think the perforation warranty is for body panels, not the frame.

Regardless of what it covers....none of the OP's photos show perforation of any kind...maybe someone should direct him to the frame rust thread so he can see what a perforation looks like....

Reading is the biggest challenge for a TW member... I do have a valid claim & the Toyota people are aware of it and verified it. How is that a moot point? I have an actual life experience, yet you try to tell me I didn't... The tech's pointed out to me some spots I didn't think were that bad, but was to them. And when you add up all of the places I have rust, and all of the bushings, nuts & bolts, screws, etc... it gets costly. And that IS part of the coverage. You guys are getting hung up on the wrong type of rust damage. The current frame rust recall does not apply to the west coast states in any way, nor is it an official Toyota recall. I've spent some time talking with people who actually have real world experience with manufacturing defects, and there is a recurring problem over at Toyota with build quality. Filing a complaint with the NHTSA & the FTC is the way to get an official recall in effect. It was very easy and quick.

Agreed. I don't see any actual holes, so technically Toyota can say buzz off.

You dont have a valid claim. Your post laid it out; 5 yr rust perforation protection guarantee. I dont see any holes, just some rust, which I guarantee most of our trucks have. I get your frustration, but the truth is in the detail, and the warrant detail specifically state HOLES, not just you showing us pictures of rust.

I'm not concerned about what you guys see in my lack-of-convincing pics. I know they suck & don't show the full extent of the rust. It's been very frustrating trying to relay the damage, to say the least. For all the "helpful" comments, facts, & advice people not on the west coast have provided... I didn't start this thread seeking peer approval or winterizing tips.

I just think that Toyota will laugh and tell you to kick rocks.

How can you say "Toyota" already aknowleged there's an issue based off a 12$ an hour 20 something less then a year on the job employee running his mouth.

It might be worse then what he normally sees on sub 3year old west coast cars going through the dealership, that doesn't mean it's bad

After the dealer tech did the 1st inspection, they denied my claim. I didn't like that answer, so I emailed the CEO of Toyota directly showing pics of my rust. His office thought it was bad enough to send a corporate field tech from Portland to do an inspection. After which, the tech said it should be repaired or replaced due to the amount of work required to restore it back to spec. He also stated Toyota might just do nothing. Which is what happened. Hence, my trying to get some other WEST COAST members to chime in, but it's mostly just you know-it-alls from every region except the west coast... The Tacoma is known to have rust issues. No, mine is not severe, but new enough and widespread enough to cause me concern, as well as other people I know & meet who see it. I was using my rust to start a dialogue with relevant WEST COAST members who may have much worse rust. I'm the in lower % of rust to cause concern, is your truck worse? If so, you should do something about it. Many people still don't know about the rust issues, outside of enthusiasts websites.

The phone numbers are for those who feel the need to take further action, rather than just accepting we have trucks that rust prematurely. I believe Toyota has chosen to inadequately address the situation, therefore I'm taking MY chosen direction with this. You don't have to agree or like it, & no one asked you to. Again, the phone numbers are for everyone, everywhere in the U.S. But, I was addressing the WEST COAST, specifically...

Now you're just being a fanboi. I've got a 2000 LC in the driveway, sits outside everyday in the rain and elements. NO rust...
