do you NEED a notary when selling private party?

    Looks like in WV it's similar to here in AZ, must be notarized.

    Just do it at your bank, they won't charge you if you deposit the funds there or any FedEx office will do it for like 10 bones

    Grew up in wv and my dad never had anything notarized when he sold or bought vehicles. Maybe it’s changed since I’ve been gone for a few years

    Of all the bs that cali does its shocking that 2 parties can sign on the back of a napkin and that's enough proof of a legal sale.

    Might be an exaggeration but printing out a standard BOS is still not much work

    Exactly! In NC the vehicle wasn't in the sellers name but the notary ensured the power of attorney was correct, checked id and such.

    California just sign and walk away, checking id is on you. Has made me paranoid about safekeeping my vehicle titles
