A coworker of mine has one. They have owned it less than a year and it has had to have the windshield changed 3 times because of stones from the road. Every time it takes a hit it cracks. I realize that shit happens and you can't help flying stones and road debris but my taco has taken several hard hits and not a single chip. It is probably just the angle the windshield is at on the Nitro, but still ridiculous.

Buying a Chrysler will drastically drop it's resale value...

The only good thing to come out of a Dodge plant is a Diesel Ram. The Chargers have/had potential but it's not worth looking at imo.

Yeah, those Cummins diesels are tough. Probably only Dodge I'd give a second thought too.

In 2007 my dad bought one brand new $32k. It was nice but it always had tranny problems. It shifted hard then started to slip. He put 13k miles on it in less than 6 months then traded it in on an 07 Explorer for my mom. He averaged 16 mpg which was mostly highway from our house to Orlando(2 hour trip). It had really bad blind spots in it too. It wasn't that bad of a vehicle just the tranny gave us problems. I did enjoy the DVD player and heated seats :)

I loved my Hemi Ram. I gave me ZERO problems. And I miss it a lot. :( But I will never give up my babytruck.

A guy in my squad has one. Its alright, i just hate the look and the ride of it. It looks like one of those "scion" brick vehicles. That was a instant no-no from me, since thats plain ugly as fuck.

It wants to ride like a sedan, but its too top heavy to do so. It was really designed poorly.

Got an amazing deal on. 2011 jeep liberty same as the nitro and for a daily driver it's great my girl loves it.... Decent ride not noisy good on gas for a v6 plenty of power and lots of room for being so small and great in the snow .. I would never buy it for me but for the wife it's perfect and safe for my family... Brand new loaded 21k out the door with a great warranty

I find the Liberty to be a better vehicle. My parents pull an 07 behind the RV. They are quite nice except I wish the leather had heaters lol

Nitros are junk, and really anything designed to use that platform is junk. As far as Chrysler products go I would stay away from almost everything they have produced up until 2011.

I realize that the Nitro you would be purchasing would be a 2011 but it's the same design as, you know, whatever year they started making them (2007 maybe?)

After 2011 things start to change; Chrysler seems to be getting their act together and finally producing some decent cars. The 2011 Charger your co-worker has was designed after the bailout where Chrysler realized they couldn't keep building shitty cars that they could only sell with crazy discounts. The new chargers are a huge step up in build quality from the previous Charger they replaced. That's not to say they are better that Toyotas or Hondas but definitely close to being on par with them.

Whatever Dodge is replacing the Nitro with (I have no idea what that is) will be light years ahead of the Nitro. I would buy one of those unless your mate fancies driving around in a brick, which in that case maybe a Kia Soul or Scion Xb?
