My fan on my 2007 is really loud. Especially when its cold. Once warmed up it gets a little bit quieter but can still hear it. Just wanna know if anyone else has this problem and is is fixable?

My 1st generation Tacoma made a noise for months. One day it stopped and I found a chunk of yellow foam rubber behind an a/c vent shortly afterwards.

I think op is talking about his main fan on for the radiator. Mine is loud as well. I just learned to live with it.

meh, its a Toyota thing, they used to joke about my 92 4cyl and how it sounded like a vacuum more than a truck. that was when it was hot most the time though, before I put in correct radiator.

in my 08, it will only do on startup or when its really warm outside and im not moving fast, like summer wheeling adventures.

its a clutched fan, it is a bit sticky when cold and decouples (gets quiet) once it frees up. then, the hotter it gets, the stickier it gets again until its moved enough air to cool itself and decouple again. going up a grade with a load in the summer you may here it occasionally, wwwwwhooooooooooooooooooooooooooooeeeeemmmmmm

Normal for a viscous fan , if it stops being loud at startup it needs to be rebuilt or replaced unless it's pretty hot outside . The fluid locks it up after settling overnight , normal operation to roar until the fluid spins out evenly .

I think thwres a little confusion on which fan OP was talking about. There's no way to make your fan on the engine quieter. If you got an electric fan setup, that would help but that's the nature of the beast. Best remedy is to get some bumps for your radio and turn it up.

As for the ac fan, there are notorious for a chirping sound we the people of Tacomaworld have provided such links to help you out in your quest for quietness.
