Point it out to the dealer. Tell him you want it adjusted before you sign the contract.

Actually, most of the replies have been people giving the OP shit for asking the question.

I'm pretty sure there is another thread on this issue. OP, I have it on my new 2017. I didn't notice it when I picked up the truck, but did about a month or two later. It seems to be another notch on Toyota's crap quality control processes for the Tacoma.

Mine has a tiny gap which I thought was more noticeable because truck is white. I moved on. But if that's bothering you this much then a 3rd gen might not be the best purchase for you. JS...

Bro, if that is a BIG DEAL to you, maybe you should consider buying another vehicle. Not because Toyota doesn't have good QC or a good fit and finish, but because I don't want to have to see you bitch on the forums about every crazy ocd, infinitesimally small detail that you don't like about your truck.

Go buy yourself a dodge so you'll at least have a good reason to whine.

Truck cap , husky liners, deflector shield, ARE truck cap.
I had the same problem , made the dealer fix it. You have the right to purchase a product without any type of flaws. It is your hard earned money.

And some will think a 911 is cheap and not worth bitching about.... Point is, people can bitch if they want if they are the ones spending the money... what is expensive to some is subjective.

If the dealer can't or won't do anything about it and don't have other trucks without the issue then I would go to another dealer until you find one to your liking that seems to have no fitment issues.........

I can't see the gap you mention in your pic but at 13,000 miles mine is falling off. At the last oil change the dealer "reinstalled it" and told me to come back and they'll replace it if it falls off again. I just can't be bothered until the next oil change.
