I currently have a 2010 dcsb without dtrl.

For those that changed the relay to the dtrl relay, does it run the front signal light at full power or the dimmer low power in running lights mode?

when the dtrls are on, and you switch the turn signal, does the side you switch to blink on and off or does it go high power and low power?

from what I understand, dtrls are supposed to be on low power, and when turn signal is enabled, the light blinks high and low power. or is that not the case for the tacoma stock dtrl.

I'm deciding whether to do this mod or not.

I keep finding a dtrl mod that refers to a thread in toyota nation (but the thread does not exist anymore) about a mod that does not require buying a new relay. The relay now costs $65. Can someone point me to the dtrl mod that does not require buying a new relay?
I am referring to this post

No from what I've seen they run on the high power...reason why they've been so many damaged headlights

If you look at the bulb itself you can see the high power filament on just as when you flip the turn signal...the 2nd (low power) never gets used at least on the older model 2nd gens (pre12s)

When you had certain switchback LEDs, you run power to the 3rd hole not being used on the back of the bulb socket and that 3rd hold powers up the low power filament of the stock bulbs and when you have switch back LEDs it powers up the white

Edit: just like that link you posted I had the mod before because my truck didn't come with dtrls...and it used the lower power portion of the bulb

    thanks for the reply.

do you still have the instructions for the mod that uses the third plug? The link to the actual instructions in toyota nation does not work anymore. I searched toyota nation and find many references to the third plug mod, but cannot find the post that has the instructions for the third plug mod.

    No I don't.
But if you contact csjumper2003 (sells the switchback LEDs) I'm sure he can email you the instructions to how he does it (sends a wire from the dtrl module inside the cab to the 3rd hole)
