I check my truck all the time for bird poop, especially this time of year. Well, i noticed a bird dropping on my hood after getting off work and now it wasn't there when i went to lunch. So i wiped it off immediately but noticed there was a small "etched in" area that looks like dried spit or something. It would not come off, I used some Mequiar's Scratch-X and it really helped lighten it to where stain.jpg it was harder to notice. I thought I got it all and today i looked and i could still see the etched in area at a certain angle when the light hit it. Now this is crazy, i have left bird poop on my previous cars for a day or two and never had this happen. The dealer even applied the paint sealant prior to delivery. I showed the pic to the dealer guy and he was baffled as to how it could have went thru the sealant and clear coat so fast.....or has it, is there anything i can do for this to remedy it? Thanks!

when did you buy it, what do you wash with? It etched your paint. Im guessing by the looks of the reflection its also oxidizing and hasnt seen a wax and/or sealant in a few months.

that oxidized look was me rubbing my fingers over it, and it was pollen all over the hood, all that came out but the etching is still there.

Bird shit is pretty acidic (uric acid) and will damage paint if left too long. Likely what you're seeing isn't a stain and has nothing to do with Toyota, but it is the remnants of damage. You can try a clay bar and a polish job, but may just be damage.

It isn't so much a question of time sitting, but again, try a clay bar and wax/polish.

If it sat out in the hot sun, that could accelerate the effects. If clay bar/polish doesn't work, you could try very lightly wetsanding it, but I would recommend taking it to a professional detailer in your area, and NOT the "detailer" at the dealership.

Polishing that with a random orbital buffer will remove that.
