As stated after the regular 9 digit stock #'s and the symbols, there is another 6 digit number with the same size lettering as the original stock #'s?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reg cab 4WD/PreRunner have a different assembly number (as you state), the 2 main leafs are the same, just the 3rd overload is different; slightly thinner overall, tapers a little more from center out to the ends, and the contour or the arch is a little different. So they are about the same rate as the A/C, DC models except for the rate of the overload leaf, and due to the contour which appears to increase rate a little later in the compression travel.

Although I have not done any rear suspension changes to my '07 other than some rear bilstein's, I do plan to add an aditional leaf at some point. I always have better luck just tearing apart an old import leaf pack from Toyotas, Nissans, Isuzus, etc and just pick out a long leaf with high arch/low rate or a thicker low arch/high rate leaf to just lift about 1/2-3/4" without a rough ride.

All this TSB talk is for '2005-2007 4X4 & PreRunner (except standard cab) which by the picture is what you have.

I'm a little confused. I have an '08 regular cab 4WD, not the pre-runner, just a base model. I realize that the spring TSB doesn't yet apply to any '08s, but am wondering if it has applied to any regular-cab versions, pre-runner or just base models, in prior years?

** make sure you verify part numbers with dealer when they come in for your truck.

There is another fella on toyotanation who had the TSB done and posted pictures of the work order and stickers off the springs and guess what? They were the PREVIOUS PART NUMBERS! ie. the weak springs!

Read the TSB on page 2 under parts information and verify they are the CURRENT PART NUMBERS. Hate to read stories about mistakes like this.

Hi wiscdave. Yep, my 08 with a build date of mid August 07 had the old springs.
Loaded the box up during the winter in January with a snowblower and sandbags and it went down pretty good with only 560 lbs in it. It raises up the front and makes the steering feel lighter.

According to the poll, it looks like not many 08's have the 'new' springs.

Of course if you never carry much in the box, maybe you don't need to bother with the TSB. I'm using mine for work so I'm carrying and pulling stuff all the time. Also, that tailgate sure is weak. I don't trust putting all my weight on the middle of it.

Just stick your head into the wheel well ahead of the rear axle and you'll see the part numbers stamped on top of the springs. Then you'll know what you have. It's a bit of a tight squeeze but I'm sure you can do it without getting too much dirt into your hair. Let us know what you find.

That's awesome, mine has the old weak springs with a build date of 02/08. I'm working with the dealer now...salesman is trying to contact me to find out how I like the truck. I've only had it a couple days. I might have to say I want to return it if they can't fix the springs. That might put a fire under their arse.

I'll have to check my springs but I'm betting they are the weak springs. When I hitch up my 5500lbs 28ft camper it sags quite a bit without the w/d system in place.

    my numbers are 48220-04120 left
48210-04380 right as viewed from rear
    mfg date 02/08
I assume they are comfort springs because they are pretty flat with only
    500 pounds in the truck

.......or in my case where they put the old part number on the drivers side and the new part number on the passenger side. That's right they mix-matched a new 3 leaf spring and a new 4 leaf spring. I pointed it out before I drove off, they apologized, claimed to have ordered the wrong parts, and fixed it the next day.

Sounds as if they will continue to put on the weaker springs for a better car like ride and for those who want to use the truck as a truck they will accomodate them via the TSB.
