Works on 5 lugs too. Just did this mod, and worked great, no slop at all now. Drove down a couple of washboard dirt roads to test it and it felt like a whole new truck. Best, cheapest, and easiest mod I've done to my truck.Thought I was just going to have to live with the vibration after I had the dealer take a look at it several years ago with no avail. Thanks again op!

Totally agree! I've spent lots of money on other things for the taco I wasn't nearly as happy with:woot:

Worked great on my 2015 TRDOR too. I see what Toyota was trying to do with the rubber isolators, but what a poor design...

there is also a snap ring just up from this joint that you should check as well. Mine was out of the groove, allowing a lot more shaft in/out play.

make sure this snap ring is in place. It stops any in/out play of the the shaft. Its a pain to get back on if its off.. After I got it back on, I could not get a zip tie in at all.

I could barely get it in had to put force on the bering to get it in, but there was obvious play. After installing no play at all.

I finally got a zip tie in as well.. had to really work it. I think a big part of mine was the snap ring. You have to push out/down on the shaft as far as it will go, while simultaneously pushing up on the ring.

I think it was an intermediate steering shaft TSB? Anyway, it solved the problem. I wasn't pushin the issue, they did it without asking when I was in to get the rear leaf TSB done.

Glad you fixed you your truck.

    I think you're missing a valuable point.

If Toyota solved this issue all those years ago, why the fuck is the crappy part showing back up in production vehicles?

And quoting me to complain about it is dumb, you've done that twice now.
