My truck has the ARE shell, but not that it's on, it feels less peppy.

Is my butt dyno out of whack or do these things really add that much weight?

I had a Tacoma I purchased with a topper on it. 3 years later I removed the topper and it felt like it gained 50 hp!

    TRD Goodies here and there.

I think the shel adds about 300 Lbs. Just Guessing here.

So I am sure the extra weight slows it up some. But I think it affects the suspension from rebounding as perky as it would with out the shell.

All these are just my opinions but when I drive without the shell I feel like the Taco Hauls!!!!

Well, it doens't seem like the peppy rocket it did before the shell. Now I feel sluggish.

But, I guess the benefit from the shell is more important anyways. Ho hum

No question about it. I've read that every 100 lbs decreases gas milege by 2-3%, and so the pep of the truck would be affected in the same way. My 1995 Tacoma was like a new truck when I took the cap off--and the mpg went way up. No cap for me on the '08.

I've run toppers on my last three Tacoma sized Toyota trucks and all felt like they had quite a bit more pep with the toppers off. I went with the Undercover this round.
