I feel your pain man, I lost my dog of 17 years just slightly over a month ago. Right after I came to college too, I really wish I could have been there on his final day, I hear he had a good last day in the sun. His name was Jack, and I had him since I was 2 and a half years old, my best friend in the whole wide world.

    Here he is last June.

I listen to this song quite often whenever I think of him, brings tears of happiness to my eyes. Good to know that our beloved pets are in a happy, pain free place watching over us called the Rainbow Bridge.

OP, so sorry for your lost. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family! She's a beautiful dog!!

I lost my best friend of 11 years, three years ago and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. I didn't sleep a second during his last night with us -- he passed away by my side around 7 a.m.

RIP Sammy. You truly were my best friend. I'll always love you, buddy!!

I'm getting teary eyed just posting this. :(

This is part of an epitaph to "Boatswain" born:5/1803 in Newfoundland, Passed away on 11/18/1808 at Neststead Abby. Companion of Lord Byron. It has always moved me in its poignancy. "Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who pocessed Beauty without Vaninty. Strenght without Insolence. Courage without Ferocity. And all the Virtures of man without his Vices." on a monument in the garden of Newstead Abby.

    OP, sorry for your loss.

I don't have a picture handy but we lost my mom's poodle only a few weeks after my grandmother passed away. He was actually a hateful little dog, mean and snappy and definitely had an alpha complex and couldn't accept that he was not alpha in our "pack" but somehow that fuzzy little HitlerDog worked his way into our hearts.

I'm dreading when my dog goes, she's border collie/Australian shepherd/blue heeler (the borderline collie, we call her). She's sweet and loving and plays tag by running full-speed into your shins with her forehead (it's endearing though). She has been there for me through fights with my parents, bad boyfriends, and the first time I ever got fired from a job. She doesn't like to cuddle with anyone, but she'll sit there and let you hug her as long as you want. I hate the thought of losing her, she's such an amazing spirit to have around.

Yeah it really sucks for me being far away at college. Especially after loosing Jack it has gotten really hard, but I know I can't have Stormy here with me in the dorms. Next year I am going to try to get a pet friendly apartment to live in. I just don't think I can do another year like this, life just isn't complete without a dog ya know?

More sad news on the home front, a friend of mine's personal service dog was put down on Monday.

His name was Issus and was very loyal and devoted to my friend. He loved her so much he actually protested leaving this world despite his pain (internal bleeding) and yelped as soon as he got injected. I didn't get to know him long, but we became pals over the summer and I really took a liking to him, he will be missed.

.Sorry for all the losses. I never thought that days would be so long at times. I catch myself doing things I guess out of habit from Wiggles being around so . I can remember when I brought her home, she was a little black dog. I knew she was my buddy when she thought we had to share the same bed and the same pillow. Silly little girl became my kid in a way. We couldnt have kids for the longest time. Dawn and I twent through a tough time, but Wiggles seemed to be the part of the puzzle that kind of gave us what we craved, to be parents. Damn I miss her.
