Product Description
Add on module to automatically turn on your rock lights in sync with the dome lights on your rig. Upgrade your existing rock lights to be able use your existing switch for anytime activation (great for night trail riding!) as well as activation from the dome lights. With this add-on the rock-lights will illuminate as triggered by the dome light. Unlocking the vehicle, approaching the vehicle (with key-less entry), opening the doors, will all trigger the lights on. Locking the doors, leaving the vehicle for a period of time, etc will turn them off.

Your dome lights are on a negatively switched circuit. Meaning it is not so simple to wire up in order to utilize both your switch (for anytime activation) AND turn on/off with the dome light. Utilizing a relay in the correct configuration and a few other electrical components allows this module to function properly. If you currently have a rock lights setup with a typical CH4x4 switch or SwitchPro setup this is all you need to be able to add the ability to trigger off of the dome light.

In V4 there are options for full plug n play harnesses that includes a T-Harness that connects into OEM wiring located in the A-Pillar. The only splice required is into the existing Rock Light Setup!

Installation Information

Harness wires
Yellow Wire - Output to Rock Lights
Black Wire - Dome Light Ground Trigger (PWM)
Red Wire - Fused Battery Connection

Description
T-Harness added for Plug N Play Installation. The only wire you will have to tap is your Rock Lights relay activation wire (86).

Warning
For both SwitchPros and CH4x4 setups it is strongly recommended that you run an external relay. Depending on the current draw of your rock lights if you hook DomeRock V4 output directly to rock lights without a relay it is possible that the DomeRock V4 module will become very hot when lights are on for extended periods of time. Please follow the diagrams below to avoid any issues.

is there a way to cut them off when the dome light is on, for instance driving down the highway and a passenger needs dome lights to find/read something?

 

Just checked it on my truck. The rock lights DO NOT come on when you turn on the dome lights with the switch in the upper switch panel.

Thanks! I'm interested in this mainly but don't have rock lights yet, they are on my short mod list.

 

Just wanted to point out that this will work for anything you want to run both triggered from the dome and on a switch. (Floorwell Lights are a good example seperate from the rock lights)

Quick update. I have identified a volunteer shipping first unit to him tomorrow for install.

Once all checks out I will identify a price and build up the first batch.

Mailed out the first unit to my volunteer. Hoping for the test install this weekend. Pending any modifications I am hoping to have a lot of at least 5 ready to go next week.

 

Where does this plug into?

 

I have updated post #2 with a wiring diagram. Will be updating that post with the installation instructions.

But there are only 3 output wires that you need to tap into your existing CH4x4 Wiring.

1) 12V+ Constant
2) 12V+ Output (To Lights)
3) Dome Light Trigger Wire (Yellow Wire in A-Pillar Harness)

 

I've been wanting to do this on my 2nd gen forever. I'll have to see if the wiring is similar and report back in case any others are interested. Looking at the diagram... your harness does not utilize a diode, correct?
