Ok so heres where I am at. Been running zero problems in my rig for a week. Checked my output to my lights and im running at 2 Amps with my 8 light setup.

22AWG wires are rated for 7A. A ch4x4 switch is rated for 3A. So to make this easy, I am just going to put a 3A fuse in line on the output and rate it at 3A. Any more current draw than 3A and you'll need to run an additional relay same as you would for the CH4x4 switch. Most if not all rock lights this wont be necessary.

That saves me from some dummy hooking up a 300W light bar and burning it up.

Just need to order some fuses and ill be all good to start on the first batch. Problem is I am in North Carolina (Raleigh Area) and we are bout to get pounded by Hurricane Florence. We are likely evacuating to Charlotte for the weekend. Will try to get some built but logistics will be an issue till next week, especially if I lose power.

Anyways I'd like to start a preorder list.

I am interested, but in no rush. I went through Hurricane Harvey In Rockport, Tx so i understand what you are going through.

 

Right now planning on keeping it at $60 the materials cost me a little bit more than the first version, but they are slightly easier for me to make so I think that will be fair. I may adjust it later if I feel the need to offset the extra material cost. Will see how the first few batches go.

Thanks man. I am wanting to hunker down at home but the lady friend is adamant about leaving. So I think were gonna head a little further west to avoid the brunt. At least I'm not on the coast. Last I heard supposed to hit as a Cat 4.

Should have enough material for 6. Gonna start cranking out some of the 3d printed enclosures tonight/tomorrow before we get out of dodge.

Just have a question if you don’t mind
ok so I got everything hook up the way it should be and the rock light come on with the dome light but for some reason will not come on when I push the switch looked at the wiring looks right!! So think maybe it’s a bad switch??? Also when you got your harness all the wires are connected to the relay correct so you have the red, black and white going to the switch but on pealnuts diagram it looks like the red and black wires are separate from the relay so did he or you you run a separate red and black wire front the swith green wire to the battery and black to a negative post or is it all tied to the relay in the engine bay??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Having a tough time following you. If the lights come on with the dome then it seems you have my harness hooked up correctly.

As for checking the switch I would just check with a multimeter that you have 12v+ coming into the green wire to the CH4x4 switch. Either your not getting power into the switch or the switch is faulty and not passing the power through to the lights.

 

Ok never mind!! See I couldn’t get the same relay pwalnut got for him rock lights cause it was not available at that time so I had to get a different one
But the other day by chance I look to see if it was available and it was so I ordered it cause I was having so much problems!!
Well I got it in today and it is totally different from the one I got so I’m hoping that’s gonna fix all my problems!!! I’ll let you know when I get a chance to reinstall the new relay!!! Thanks for your time bro!!! Hope all is well!!

 

Printing the remaining enclosures this weekend. Should have the fuses in by early next week (USPS delayed my shipment due to the storm). Should be good to go middle next week.

Will only take payment when I get them built. Expecting to lose power soon, could impact getting the enclosures printed. Already had two mess up mid print when the power flickered. Will keep you guys posted, assuming I still have power.

Really no need. They are effectively the same thing. V2 just looks nicer and easier for me to build but its tucked behind the dash anyways... Hook up your V1! Whatcha waiting for?

Finally got everything to work!!!
I would highly suggest going with the relay from pwalunts link!!! Makes everything go real easy trust me I got a different relay and it would not work right!!!!
