Thanks BRANDON!!! I'll have to check it out and compare it with what I have at the house when I get home from work.

This looks good to me but now I’m wondering if this is redundant/ over kill / not right.

I spoke with resident electrical expert @caribe makaira and this is what he said

    “No DSIM.
SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) switch, like MESO's puddle lamp switch.
    Battery (hot) - fuse - pin 30 & 86 of relay.
Relay pin 87 to BD Rock Lamps.
Relay pin 85 to MESO's puddle switch - center pin
Top (or bottom pin) of switch to Cargo Lamp harness, purple wire.
    Remaining pin, to ground.

Select head Unit to Unlock on approach. You'll have to read the owner'smanual...I can't remember the steps to get to the correct page on that.”

Edit: more information——“This module is handy to intercept the dimming of the cab illumination but it has a limit of 3 amps. Any added lamps need to be 3 amps or less. If the added lamps are more than 3 amps then the yellow wire would go to an added relay (pin 85 coil negative) so the relay can handle higher amps. If using a relay due to higher amps to handle, the added lamps only go ON or OFF...no dimming effect.” - @caribe makaira

@caribe makaira maybe you could weigh in on @CttAznRanger setup / diagram and we could set this straight once and for all.

Thanks, @SubaruTheTacoma for sharing. And thanks @caribe makaira for your wealth of knowledge.

Now... just to make sure I understand this. When you say, "This module," you mean the DSIM? And does the calculation of the 3A need to take into consideration the current draw of the Puddle Pods and Dome Lights? Or just whatever the DSIM is pushing?

Thanks, again, for everyone's contributions. :)

Hmm, maybe I'm not as good in electrical as I thought I was. I have never hooked up the 86 pin of a relay to the battery, so I can't answer to that. I also don't plan on tapping into the cargo lamp wiring, so I am not sure what difference it will make in the schematic. Can you educate me on that @caribe makaira ?
Pretty sure the 3A is for the DSIM module directly.

Oooh, ground side switch. Yeah that makes sense. I've always put my switch as the positive trigger.

Makes sense about also not necessarily needing DSIM module. Just tap into MESO switch wiring directly with a relay.

Since I already have the DSIM module, I might as well use it.

Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Much appreciated.

If you like relay "chatter" go ahead and tap into the MESO switch wiring directly...

Would that happen because of the dimming feature?

Just realized the bundle I purchased through DSIM isn't for the MESO Puddle Pods w/ MESO Puddle Pods Switch. The bundle came with a 3-way splitter. This is good if you do not plan to use the MESO Puddle Pods Switch. This also means you do not have to use MESO's two way splitter (#2 in MESO's drawing) since the 3-way splitter takes its place.

What I need (and folks who have the MESO Puddle Pods and MESO Puddle Pods Switch) is the 2-way splitter which DSIM also sells here. That way I can use the DSIM with its own switch AND the MESO Puddle Pods with the MESO Puddle Pods Switch. For complete, independent control.

I emailed Daniel (@DSIM) and asked if I could exchange it.

Quick update: Daniel sent me, free of charge, the 2-way connector. Awesome customer service.

He also stated that the 3-way COULD work, but it would give the MESO Switch some control over his DSIM module. (The double splitter in mesos kit gets replaced with this 3 way. The switch kit gets hooked on straight at the harness. Then the 3 way split then the meso puddles and domerock follows.)

For my application, I want autonomous control from each other so I will be utilizing the 2-way splitter.

    Thanks, again, Daniel (@DSIM)!

Confirmed. Should be in the blue bin this afternoon.

Only one left in current batch. Looks like I am going to have to make some more!

    Hi All,

New to wiring - do these connections I just drew up make sense? My objective is like many of you - to have my rock lights come on with the push of the CH4x4 switch button AND as I approach the vehicle.

Look at Post #2. You need to use a relay.

Actually, I have a relay I just bolted to the driver's side under my hood. Just forgot to add it in to the sketch.

Then to answer your original question, "do these connections I drew up make sense?" ... the answer would have to be, "No."

The BLACK and RED from the DSIM goes to the A-Pillar. The YELLOW from the DSIM goes to RED1.

The GREEN from the switch would go to your RELAY (30).

Not sure of the other wires you have coming from your battery. You would have to insert your relay for us to make sense of your drawing.

I don't think it will work.

When you approach the truck, the yellow DSIM wire would give output, so it should go to a relay to turn on your rock lights. If you send it to the CH4x4 switch, it would only work if the switch was on and you were approaching the car. If you are inside the car, switching the CH4x4 on won't do anything, as the DSIM module is not giving an output.

Let me know if that makes sense. I can try to make it more clear if you need.
