Let us know your findings. I have some diodes laying around i can use and i just had thought about that. Are you having the same thing happen with your dome lights as well? with dsim plugged in DOME lights no longer fade/dim. With it unplugged they Fade/dim normally?

Yes, just thought it was the price to pay for having puddle lights triggered by the dome circuit. I will test your theory tonight.

Just finished my install- I used a switch after the DSIM module so I can have the rock lights come on or not with the dome. If switch is ON (rocks come on) dome NO fade - switch OFF (no rocks) dome fADES.

    DSIM > switch > relay

that's interesting... so your switch only is to make the lights come on when the dome circuit is triggered aka, door unlock, door open, etc. and off makes them not come on at all with the dome circuit? do you also have a second switch wired from the dsim trigger to make them manually come on anytime you want?

edit: also if above is true then it does seem that yours is behaving just as mine is, except for me its physically unplugging the dsim where your switch is doing that.

so are there others here that are using the dsim module and your overhead dome lights actually fade on and off?

it's starting to sound like this is how it's intended to work since so many others experience the same.

This is weird. In his install video, it shows the dome lights fading in and out with his rock lights. Check out the 7:40 mark.

very interesting indeed. It looks like i've counted atleast 4 of us so far where it's not working in that fashion. myself, @ExploreBackcountry , @Puppypunter, and @oostroma.

There will be a delay in testing the inline diode theory until tomorrow night folks. Forgot truck is dropped off for oil change tomorrow.

I am planning the 2 switch method you mentioned. I worked up the circuit in post #834. I am hoping to finish up the wiring this weekend. Other projects took precedent until now. It's interesting to hear about fade and non fade scenarios, as I don't actually use the dome light. I mainly planned on using the "courtesy lights" for helping the vehicle stand out at night in a parking lot. The manual "work lights" are for when a weekend project runs into the evening.

I almost wonder if it is just as simple as a polarity miss match. Maybe The Red/black wires coming from the a pillar that plug to the DSIM being crossed/switched for some reason... if that's the case it is worth noting that the a pillar tap wire i'm using was provided in my meso puddle pod kit and not from dsim. maybe it's switched on the meso tap? i'll have to try and play with it soon as i get some time.

here’s a quick video of my lights you can see right at :18 where the dome turns off instantly and not fade, same thing right at :58 seconds with the rear cargo lamp. https://youtu.be/Dx1Yzkas-co

Switch in the bed turns on camp lights and triggers the scenePods in Alpha rack.

DSIM (switch ON) triggers scenePods in Alpha rack.

I just disconnected the “dash light” feed to the switch (to rule that out) same behavior on effect.

Thought about that too, but I think you'd blow some fuses if that were the case, but not 100% sure. I also found out that there are some jumpers on his board that you can switch, but that's only how the module behaves when it's triggered (ON or OFF).

I see that your Puddle Pods fade in & out, but yeah... your dome is like it's set on a light switch (ON/OFF).

Ok, so you are getting the fade effect with the added dimmer. My puddle pods are connected directly to the DSIM harness "+" feed and I am getting instant On and Off with them and interior dome light.

if you wire your lights into the circuit without using the dsim, they can fade on/off i believe. but if using the dsim, the trigger is just an on/off.

It's confusing, but you got it!

I confirmed with DSIM before I installed that the module has a diode - So I only added a diode from my bed control panel to the relay.

Here is my experience with the module when I tested it in the truck (not on the bench). I plugged the module straight into the A-pillar tap. No other loads on it except for the stock dome lights. When the module was plugged in, the dome lights would fade on and off very quickly (almost like there was no fade at all). Unplugging the module restored normal fade (about +/-1.5 seconds from on to off). So the oznium wasn't causing any issues, as it wasn't in the circuit at all. The DSIM module was outputting a positive signal, just like it is supposed to do. I was kicking around the idea of trying a diode as well. I've also wondered if a resistor would do any good? The module itself is a relay, two diodes, and a capacitor, so maybe a relay would slow down the discharge rate? This might not work though since the capacitor is regulating the voltage, basically eliminating the "modulation" in PWM so the relay doesn't flicker. I'll have to play with it some and see what it does...
Also, I didn't see how the cargo light acted since I have a topper and mine is always turned off. So I'll check that too. My current revision of my wiring plan went back to no DSIM module as the lights I am using have very low draw, but I still have the module (and the oznium dimmer) to play with. Meso is sending me a few splitters that I will be using to make a custom harness for footwell/puddle/light bar lights, so I'll have the A-pillar opened up again soon.
