Anyone's armrest pad (door pull handle) falling apart? Generally looking crappy?

Coming up empty handed searching for the part number/price.

Any leads to where to order a new one besides the dealer would be appreciated.

rockauto.com has items called "armrest cover" but when I'm looking at them, there are no pictures and it seems as though it might be different than what you're looking for.

    I'd call them though.

The top plastic piece of my passenger side broke. The stealership wants like $55 for a small plastic mold.

    Went wit 3m adhesive.

    Thanks for suggestions guys.

Trying to navigate through some of these online Toyota parts websites is a PITA. No pics or illustrations.

I'm not even sure if the armrest pad itself can even be replaced, or you have to get the whole new door panel.

    This is my problem..

Back to square one after the 2001. So...
It almost looks like you could take it apart, use a heat gun to soften up and reform the vinyl, pull it back over the white plastic piece on top, and let it cool/shink back to proper fit? Or maybe use some 3M spray adhesive underneath, too?

Unfamiliar with which from picture so are we talking the armrest for a 2000 with manual windows and locks in oak?

If so then the part number looks like 74210-04020-E2 and should do both LH and RH doors. $64.49 from Toyotapartszone plus ship. You might find it cheaper maybe.

Otherwise, if it is the long armrest (which looking at the pic now it looks like it might be comparing to the parts list) then the part numbers are:
    Right side- 74210-35010-E0
    Left side- 74220-35010-E0
Either showing $82.38 plus ship from same source.

    Hope that helps.
    Cheers

Don't suppose you can find your receipt and give me a company name, part number, and price? :D

I checked for any kind of fasteners that hold that pad on, but there aren't any. There doesn't seem to be any play in the foam/vinyl part to fold back down. Thinking water may have caused the vinyl pad to warp and separate.
I may try the heat gun route as a last resort.

It's a 2000, power windows and locks, oak. It's the long one. I'm guessing the parts you listed are for the whole door panel?

Pretty random comment dude, but I agree. :p

Hi, No those part numbers were just for the armrest pad piece not the entire door panel. That WOULD be expensive. Not looked, but I bet $450ish at retail from the dealer.

Here is a link to the 1995-2000 Toyota parts list that might help you.
    http://www.customtacos.com/tech/files/95-2000_parts_list.pdf

Will list out parts, years, colours, factory part number and give diagrams of most things on the truck front to back. Its a pdf document so worth saving.

Page 21, bottom right is the door panel pieces. You need part number 7 which is the "Armrest, Door", part shows to fit and be the same 1998-2000. Part numbers are:
    Right side- 74210-35010-E0
    Left side- 74220-35010-E0
    as given previous.

The last digit is a number by the way, not a letter 0.

If you go to the various online OE Toyota part sites and shop around you can most likely get it cheaper than the local dealer, BUT does not hurt to call them just to check. My local dealers sell as full pop retail only period so I order online (Toyotapartszone.com, but I'm sure they are other good ones and perhaps cheaper ones). On average I calculated on my last order that I save 23% off of buying the parts at my local dealer w/tax even with having to pay shipping on them.

Hope that helps. PM me if you have difficulting figuring out/reading the part listings. Glad to help.
    Cheers

Great help!! Thanks for the PDF reference, that'll come in handy for sure.

When I get a chance, I'm going to try and repair it first as suggested and see what happens. If i break it or it gets worse, a new armrest is in my future.

    Cheers!!

You have to remove the door panel to get it off because there are two gold screws on the backside holding it in place also. Not just those two screws in front.

In the pic above you can see the armrest in the middle.

There are those two large holes through those large posts. Those are where the screws, that you can access from the front, go through. These large/long screws help hold the whole panel to the door skin.

Then you can see two smaller holes on smaller posts which are set in from those larger aforementioned ones. Those holes line up with tabs on the back of the door panel which are used by two small gold. And those two small gold screws hold the armrest to the panel. These two small gold screws can only be accessed from the rear of the door panel.

That adhesive you see in the OP's picture holds the actual pad to the internal plastic framework (which incorporates those posts the screws go through). That adhesive fills the entire internal void and the framework is literally buried in the adhesive. If you were to pull the pad off, you'd destroy the whole assembly.

If it was me, I'd take the 5 mintues to remove the door panel and armrest properly, fill the gap with burley adhesive/glue, and clamp it overnight.
