Hey, guys! New to the forum and the truck (got it last week). I've seen a lot of threads talking about how to disable/enable the beep, but I was thinking it would be fun to install a custom sound/beeper for when the doors lock and unlock. Has anybody done this or have ideas?

Welcome to TW! :) I don't think it's mute-able on the 2nd Gens. Not sure about you 3rd Gen Taco folks. I want to say I saw something somewhere about there being an option in the menu on the stereo unit. But I could be thinking of something else!

Edit: Yeah I'm probably thinking of something else. My Google-Fu isn't working. There should be a little speaker thing somewhere under the hood that makes the beep noise though. Just found out that on Tundras it's a little black box behind driver headlight.

I turned my down, pretty sure it can be disabled. Not sure on the custom sound but I'd bet whatever the beeper is probably doesn't have good frequency response much outside of the beep.

I can confirm mine has the volume and disable control in tree touch screen menu. I'd like to find a way to have it on, but making a different tone. Like a heavy duty bolt clanging or something.

Maybe an after market device to replace the actual beeping component?

Thinking about it...you might want a shorter sound, so there's no overlap on a double beep(unlock).
You might have to monitor the different frequencies it might be receiving, to assign seperate sounds to them; if it's capable of that.

That was my ultimate goal. I don't mind having only 1 sound for the unlock, but I was hoping to find a way to have different sounds for the lock and unlock alerts.
