Hey guys, have any of you seen or done anything like this. Replacement door panel arms rests. These guys sell microfiber PU leather pieces for $20.. but I'm hessitant.

Says we'll need to glue it over the original arm rests. Mine are in good condition, but starting to show wear. I don't want to ruin them, either.

Just a thought. Has anyone done anything similar

My actual arm rest and fabric were cracked by the previous owner, I used epoxy to fix to some degree, but would love to replace the whole thing... and sources?

Did mine 5 1/2 years ago, still look as good as the day I did them. Followed thread referenced above.

I followed the thread as well but effed 2 of 4 doors up while doing this. Not a slam-dunk mod. I'm pretty handy, but failed at this one.

The material I used was the leather from Katzkins. I successfully installed the leather everywhere else in my truck by myself.

So what went so wrong, if you don't mind explaining the failure... And don't worry, we all have our moments. I'm not judging

I followed the DIY write up, except I was cheap and used vinyl I got at the local fabric store. Only thing that went wrong for me was that I used too big a drill bit on one door so the screws didn't have anything to bite on to. Used some epoxy to fix that up. Did it maybe 6 years ago and the vinyl and spray adhesive (Loctite brand) have held up fine.

It’s pretty straight forward, take your time and you’ll be fine.

Biggest thing to watch is go not overtighten the screws, they will come through ghe front side of the door panel

So what do you do if the fabric on top is ok, but below that the plastic is broken on the armrest? Does that section come out and gets replaced by these leather ones? Or do I need to get a whole new door panel?
