My drivers side door no longer holds itself open. Is there a way to replace the door stop so it stops shutting on me?

    Thanks,

    Flash

DOOR CHECK THAT FITS THE 1996-2004 TACOMAS. THIS FITS EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR. THIS IS THE PART THAT KEEPS THE DOOR FROM OPENING TOO FAR AND THEN ALSO KEEPS THE DOOR OPEN. THIS IS THE GENUINE TOYOTA PART, PART NUMBER 68620-04010.

    ebay words, not mine

How far does one have to go in taking the inner door panel off when replacing the door check?

Is there a ghetto way to fix this? I don't want to butcher my door by trying to replace this stupid thing.
