I think that kind of new technology is really cool!

I'm really curious... what size is your engine, and what rpms is your engine turning in 8th gear at 60 mph on level road?

Fook. If I find the need to upgrade to a fullsize due to kids or additional dogs, I want a Ram. If Ram goes to the aluminum bodies like Ford (and rumor is Chevy is planning to), and sheds 800 pounds... That 400 hp/tq paired with the 8 speed transmission would be an erection every time I drove it.

    Thanks for the chart. :)
That would make only 1,598 rpms @ 60 mph. And there's the secret to getting decent gas mileage out of a full sized vehicle with a large engine. Tune the engine for low rpm efficiency (torque) and give it lots of gears.
Mine uses a similar approach to get 30 mpg on the freeway with 2,000 rpms @ 60 mph, except with a lot smaller engine and a lot less gears.

What makes the LCE header non-CARB compliant? Did they just not submit it for approval or whatever, or does it actually put more pollution out of the tail pipe compared to the stock header? Or is it due to noise?

They obviously don't want to incur the cost of the application process. My guess is because they don't sell enough of that model to make it worth their while. The header will pass a smog test with flying colors as the air injection system is completely intact and operates as intended. I checked it with my scanner and the O2 sensors are operating within their normal limits, the cat heats up quick, and no pending codes are thrown. The header doesn't produce any more smog than the stock intake manifold. It just lacks a CARB number. It's not a noise issue as I ran it with my stock muffler and you could hardly tell the difference in sound other than a kind of "metallic whooshing" sound under hard acceleration.

Yeah, they do that every once in a while. That's $45 knocked off the price. I paid full price because I couldn't wait, but even at that it was still well worth the money.

I rate the LCE long tube header as the absolute NUMBER ONE 2.7 mod.

Nah, they won't be too low, especially if you have large diameter wheels. Just remember it's not a huge difference and your truck won't accelerate any faster. It will just pull stronger at slightly lower rpms, and will have more resistance to bogging down under a load.

Just don't open up your exhaust with a large diameter cat back and the header will help the most where it counts the most... at low rpms. ;)

The sales seem to come around about twice a year, so there'll be another one.

It doesn't really serve much of a purpose since the intake draws air from the fender and is pretty much enclosed/separated from the engine bay air

I had to wait a while for mine. But they called me the day I ordered it and told me that they had just sent a batch out for coating and that it'll take a bit longer than expected.
