No we can do it in our driveway. Just have to put the transmission in temperature check mode, there is a thread somewhere about this.

QUestion on firm ride; I have a 12 Prerunner SR5; no CW OF OC PY. The stock springs are 3+1. Does this mean that I have the firm ride suspension? Have TO (towing) package though, but that's not mentioned in the TSB. (Maybe Prerunners all get off road springs??) Snagged pic from another post but it correctly shows my suspension..

I'm not trying to argue with you but you can put the transmission in temperature check mode and the truck will tell you when the transmission is in the proper temp range. It will be the same sensors that will tell the dealer when it's in the proper temp range. Not really that difficult, just a little time consuming. Here is the thread describing how to do it. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/63851-how-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.html

So your saying that the trucks obd no longer tells you when you are in the right temperature range. I really doubt that. Hey if you don't want to do it yourself, I'm fine with that. But it's not too complicated and many people do it by themselves on here. I'm not going to a dealership just for them to check my atf fluid level.

Also I'm curious to what the current temperature is now?

I highly doubt that anything has changed in the procedure. The only thing that changed with temp's on the transmission is the OBD PID's used for temp read out on say an ultra guage etc.... temp probes are still in their same spots (Pan and torque converter output) and the actual equation to calculate the temprature from the raw data is the same, just the variable from the OBD port has changed.

THAT STATED. i just dropped my truck off tonight, verified they had all the right parts (i wouldnt hand them my key till i saw and verified the parts myself) as well as told them (the dealer service manager and district corporate tech will be working on my truck tomorrow) i told them to check my transmission fluid level.

I will report back as soon as i get my truck back.

Only took me about 2 weeks for Toyota to accept a customer goodwill for my 2011 dcsb with 62k miles for the tsb but luckily the service manager is a good friend of mine, can't wait to see the difference with the new springs, truck def had issues with only 300 lbs in the bed. 5100s for the front should be in within a week, looking forward to the tab and shocks :)

Well dealer just called...damper just came in so bringing it in tomorrow for that. Then they'll be able to measure driveline angles and most likely then be finally able to order the new leaf pack.

My service advisor is special. He calls me and tells me that the truck is ready to be picked up. I ask if the driveline angles were measured and the new leaf packs ordered. He says no, I have to drive it first and if the vibration is still there, bring it back so they can measure. I refer to the tsb and he says he needs to talk to the tech and will get back to me. He calls me while I'm in a meeting sticking with his original story. I leave him a message, which still hasn't been returned, so I wrote him this email:

    "Hi XXX,

I left you a voicemail. I would appreciate if you guys could be a
little more proactive and take the angle measurments while the truck
is there. It's getting a bit fatiguing having to bring back the truck
numerous times. I've read the tsb numerous times and nowhere does it
say to do things one thing at a time and have customer report back.
It states to perform both replacements, measure driveline angles and
order the leaf packs according to the joint angle shown on Table 3. I've attached it
again for you to review. I'll be there around 3:30 and hoping this is
done as I can't keep making weekly trips to the dealer."

Oh and I'm willing to bet they don't have the measurment tool. He said that they wouldn't be available for me to bring it in Monday or Tuesday....hmm, probably ordered the tool today and will get there around lunch on Tuesday. Wish they'd man up instead of lie.

Edit: He just called back and apparently the tech working on the truck is the only one with an angle finder and the battery terminals were corroded so he had to order a new one which won't be here til Tuesday. Lol, I don't really care...just don't know why they gotta lie in the first place.

Got my truck back from yota today and i am happy to report that vibes on acceleration are like 90% gone under WOT from a dead stop... and 99% gone under normal driving.

There are some slight decel vibrations now around the same 20mph or so... but they are very slight and not nearly as much of a nuisance.

Also the new 3+1 leaf pack feels much firmer than the 2+1 pack that my 2013 TRD off road originally came with.

Hello All, New member here. As I read the TSP, it only applies to the 15 to 25 MPH shudder. I don't really have a shudder per se that I feel in the steering wheel but a noise like an groan at 35-40MPH. (At at first I didn't notice it because with the new truck, I was checking out the free sirius XM radio all the time.) I see some others have had the same experience. Anyone found a solution yet?

is your truck 4x4? if so when driving at the mph where you hear this noise switch it into 4 high, does the noise go away? if so its your front diff bearing.

Just curious for you opinion on the ride quality now with the new leaf pack. Do you like the firmer ride over what you had irrespective of the vibration improvement? BTW sounds like this has been a long process for you, so hopefully this will take care of your issue!

I know you asked the other guy but will add my perspective here and after driving my truck for more than a week now..... I can hardly tell the ride is much stiffer really. Sometimes its noticeable but overall its a non issue for me.

On the other hand..... what has started driving me NUCKING FUTTS is the height of the rear end. Now the front end is so much lower than the front, it almost looks goofy. IDK though..... maybe I'm being to anal about my truck.

Good suggestion. I will try that this weekend and let you know. So far I have been in 2 high each time I noticed the noise. The truck has less than 2,000 miles on it so I would be very disappointed if it was the front diff bearing. The only time I have driven it in 4x4 mode was over snowy mt passes in Dec. below 50 mph.

Ride quality IMO is MUCH better. Its not overly stiff or firm, but its how it should have been from the factory, a truck like ride and not some passenger car. Remember i had the stock 2+1 leaf pack on my 2013 TRD off road.

I got right at 1 inch of lift (this was measured much more accurately from the top of the rear axle tube to the bottom of the frame, instead of the top of the wheel to the fender). Before the new springs it was 8 inches, now its 9, so 1 inch total of lift.

For you guys getting this TSB done are you going to be staying stock and not adding a lift? My truck could use this TSB but I'm contemplating if it is even worth it as I want to add 5100's and icon AAL in the rear. It might not be worth the hassle of multiple dealership visits and none of my local dealers offer loaners. I'm thinking even if I get this done, once I add the lift I might have vibrations again.
