    Hello,

First off here is a video of my issue, it may be difficult to hear without your volume turned up.

The driver side door (only) has an air leak when going above 50mph, cross winds make it worse. It has been happening since day 1, bought the truck about 3 months ago, 4k miles. Took it to the dealership who acknowledged the noise, attempted to adjust the door striker in more to make the door flush with the mid pilar, that did actually help the noise a bit. They acknowledged the noise still existed but said "it was normal, all Tacoma's on the lot do that same" which is straight bullshit. None of the other doors have an air leak, I complained to the tech and manager who said tough shit, deal with it. They even made a note that it may be related to the "mirror" when the leak is clearly coming in around the window, right about head level towards the rear of the door.

Ugh. Thus started my own process of taping the entire door/window/jams to determine where the leak was coming from. Viola, the wind leak is gone. Took test drives up and down the highway, removing piece by piece until I determined the leak location. I discovered the leak is coming from around the top edge of the window seal, not where the glass actually touches, but where the rubber meets the door:

This piece of electrical tape solved the issue completely:

    Now here lies my issue:

I have two options, take it back to the dealership and have them replace the rubber window seal to see if a new one might fix the issue.

Or I could simply use some silicone sealant in the crevice and close the window and let it dry. I am leaning towards the sealant just because it is quick and easy and should last a long time. Anyone see any issues with this?

I know there is one for an issue with the mirror making sound, and like a "reed" sound issue, but I think this one might be different. How do you search for TSBs?

    WAIT!

Before you fill that with silicone.. try inserting a piece of soft plastic water line.. 1/4 in.. get the flexible stuff .. I used that to fix the hood whistle on my 2012 - it pushed the seal out enough to solve the issue

Yeah so the "T-SB-0170-16 R1: Wind (Reed/Buzz) Noise From Front Doors - CrossWind Conditions" I don't think applies, but may. And currently it only applies to 2012-2017

That common issue sounds like this: https://youtu.be/Cy9EAv1yyIA

Where as my issue in the OP video is more of an air leak. I don't think replacing the inside door seal is going to change anything. My issue is coming from the door frame seal itself.

DO NOT silicone your new truck. Call your regional Toyota direct. Ask for their consumer department and tell them about the issue and the dealer being unwilling to address/resolve the issue. They can get a factory rep involved until the issue is resolved.

We shall no longer accept shit half ass. Owners unite. Here we go again

Agreed. It's a brand new truck, they acknowledge there is a problem. If that dealership won't address it and you have another dealership nearby, go there, explain the situation, and see if you can make ground with them.

Try it in the groove your thumb is in first... this can be a temporary solution until Toyota fixes it with a new seal or whatever they need to do.
