I've had and incredibly annoying wind whistle above 55 MPH since day one. I've finally tracked the source down. The gap between the mirror trim and the window seems to be letting air in. Slapping some tape over the seal completely eliminates the noise - clearly a temporary fix. Potato pics:

I'm taking it to the dealer Sunday so they can figure out a permanent fix but I want this documented in case anyone else has this issue. Will update on what they come up with.

I think he is referring to the most common wind noise reported which is the control arms.

That said, I am almost certain I saw a thread dealing with the exact same issue as you and with the exact same temporary resolution.

My brain is apparently currently defective as I can't seem to find the thread...

If you find it, post it so a mod can merge us into one great big whistle-fest. Or I can just do what they did and avoid (another) trip to the dealer.

No, they didn't avoid a trip to the dealer.

    Just postponed it.

They just used a piece of tape too.

Quiets the noise, but kinda sucks when you need to open the window.

Ok to be more clear... mine does it with the window OPEN! So its not where you think it is! What I'm trying to say. I can hear it with the window closed but its hard to hear. With the window open and going say 40-45mph I hear it and its actually coming from the rear view mirror... in my case.

Ok. We might be having different issues. Did a bunch of testing with the mirror before I started taping and nothing worked.

If the noise is gone, then maybe your trim is out of spec or was somehow bent or damaged, so a trip to the dealer and they can get you a good piece.
I don't have any wind whistle coming from mine so it's a universal issue.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

So I took it in this morning and the service advisor tells me that Toyota is a aware of the problem, is working on a fix, and has instructed them not to attempt to fix the issue until the official fix is released. I asked if there was some kind of bulletin stating this and was told there was not but "they just know". Bullshit sensors overloaded.

On the bright side, I came up with a better fix than some tape.
I used some 1/8" rubber tube.

And I ran it between the exterior mirror trim and the exterior rubber gasket.

This made the exterior seal press into the window and the noise is completely gone.

This has prevented the exterior seal lip from going over a small internal flange so I'm not sure if it may slowly let water into the door but at least I can focus on finding the rest of the rattles from the dash and the rear doors. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the easy fix, mosspig! Quickly and easy, no more kazoo.

I want to clarify that this was not the kazoo sound I've seen in a few videos. This was more like the sound a wire would make in fast moving air. Maybe someone with the kazoo can try this fix though and see if it also works.

My kazoo noise does tend to come and go... I guess time will tell if it is a viable solution or a false positive.

You aren't crazy I hear a similar thing with my window down but it's not a whistle, mine sounds more like someone blowing over the top of a beer bottle is all I can think

I recently test drove 2 new 2016 Limited Tacos and both made the noise you are referring to. I really wanted to buy one but ended up leaving them sit. The noise was very annoying. I may go back and try again using the rubber tube fix. Thanks for the idea.

I had this sound. Told the dealer. Got new front door seals, solved it.

But now I have a whistle. Time to try the rubber tube.

Mine was fixed by the dealer putting in a long cylindrical piece of foam running the length of the door seal. Been fine ever since.

Sound is most prominent at 35 seconds in if that's the sound you're talking about.

I had to do the same thing, but I didn't have wind noise. When I crack my window down it would rattle side to side because that same seal didn't push against the window enough to stop it from moving. So I slid some foam behind it.
