I wanna make the truck go fast fast but my driveshaft is holding me back, what’s a decent one to hold up to 450-500 hp and faster speeds

Have you regeared? If so, you probably want to avoid a single piece shaft, as the critical speed is lower on those. What kind of problems are you having with your current DS? I am somewhere around the 400 crank hp mark with my truck on the stock DS and i havent had any issues. Had it up to 130mph on a track

I’ve heard of DS’s grenading at higher speeds and I didn’t wanna take any risks when I remove the limiter, I’m planing to go fbo, rebuild the motor for boost, and get a stage 3 URD Supercharger

You might try giving Tom Woods Driveshafts a call. They may be able to lead you in the right direction for a performance DS. If you do end up speaking with them and they make a recommendation, please do post up! im thinking about converting my truck to AWD and will need custom driveshafts made for mine in the near future

Hmm yeah i know what you mean. I actually just checked their website and it says they dont make driveshafts for 2wd or prerunners, so that wouldnt work..

I recommend popping into this LT BS thread and asking someone who they got a custom shaft for 2wd/prerunner from. You might also consider posting in a regional thread near you, someone might have some knowledge or know of a shop nearby.

So true, especially if you want to keep a toyota motor in these things and go fast
