Yeah, your best bet would be a used one. The low end ones are really intended for basic debugging of arduino projects and education.

They're own wiring schematics show that the DRL is not linked to any other lights. They can check that with a circuit tester and the DRL leads.

Maybe a workable idea, although it would be good to get the same model of alternator. Mine is a 2000, so there is a decent chance it behaves differently, but I might be able to squeeze some time later in the week. (family visiting...)

Has he checked resistance from the harness back to grounding point EB? Intermittent contact could cause a load dump.

So you're saying kill the HIDs? I have them in my low beams. Have read a lot of guys have them, if I lose a light I'll go back to halo bulbs I guess. I don't use headlights much, only at night now that I have a vehicle with drl. My old Mazda just had markers.

Only if they are causing issues. The quality HIDs would have a spike suppressor in their ballasts. The cheapo chinesium ones may not. I wouldn’t worry about it unless you have a problem like OP was experiencing.

No issued yet but I'm on 175 miles and week of ownership soooo.... But I pulled these from my Mazda had them for a year or so in there. No issues there. They might be like.... High quality chinesium I'll have to look at the Amazon listing.

Thanks for all the advice and support. Sorry I haven't responded, I was out of town all weekend driving my buddy from Chicago out to Mesa. We drove a 2019 Ram Big Horn out here and I was shocked by how nice it was. Makes me think about a Ram Rebel....

In other news, I didn’t get a call back on Friday or Saturday from Toyota as promised (shocking). I’ll follow up with them today and see what direction the rest of this saga will point. I’ll also be following up with the dealership to see why there were notes in my RO that were provided to Toyota but not printed on my paperwork when I picked up.

As far as options moving forward:

1: Keep fighting Toyota which would include additional testing with a third party tech I trust.

2: Fix the headlight myself with the DRL that @no vtec 4me sent me and see what happens.

    3. Install the full set of Morimoto housings that have been sitting in my garage for months and see what happens.

Does anyone have a photo of the harness coming off their EB ground? Does it look like a birds nest of white(ish) wires? Just trying to see if maybe the dealership I purchased from started modifying something and then stopped. It just doesn’t look “right”.

Could you post a reference picture of yours? I would also like to see if there are any differences.

I'm pretty sure mine is identical to that. With the little plastic caps on the end of the wires.

Although idk if mine has tape on it
