Yeah I think Ford really missed the mark with that Ranger. I had huge expectations for the Ranger and was considering buying one to replace my last truck (also Ford) when it hit 250k miles. I was between the Ranger and 3rd gen Tacoma... Long story short I'm a proud 2nd gen owner. New Bronco looks badass though.

I’m really surprised that Ford doesn’t have the 5.0 as an available option for the Bronco.

Too bad because F150 XL 4x4 with the turbo 6 is a great truck and value when it comes to year end deals. I just find a full size pickup to be too hard to squeeze into my garage with the wifes car in there. Only other decent looking and performing midsize truck is the GMC Canyon. And I traded mine for the TRD OR in my avatar.

I have read many reviews of the new Ranger and I can honestly say not a single one has called it slow.

Ford has a really great truck lineup, but the ranger is a huge disappointment.

Some of the in-the-loop people are saying that larger displacement engines are pretty likely after the bronco actually hits the market

With a lift and the right tires, that could probably look pretty good.

    The hidden winch is slick.

I guess it's unibody. It looks better than a Ridgeline but I'd buy a Honda before I'd by a VW.

What focus group decided they like reflectors at 12 o'clock on their fender flares? I see this has become a trend.

    Didn't
Didn't notice that at first glance.

    That is kinda weird.

I always thought the Rampage concept was a nice looking truck, though being FCA, I would never buy it.

A unibody truck, like a bigger Subaru Baja

First truck I saw with the reflector flares was the Rivian concept the might have been blue. The new GMC HDs have them, one new Frontier rendering was like that. May have been a few others like that. I don't know about that Rampage, it's not bad I don't like all that plastic cladding.

I looked at Ford, seriously looked.

Ranger was good value. Utterly not special. In-any-way. Not like the old ranger was terribly special either, so I can't fault new ranger for being a lot like old ranger.
I've owned two F150's in my earlier years. Current F150 is pretty nice. I came pretty darn close to a 2019 RCLB ecoboost F150 in low 20's. Lots of truck, 10 spd auto, good mileage. Wife said no. Ironically she's stepped foot in the taco only once. That experienced seemed to cement in the fact that electric or hybrid F150 was a no go. Maybe sometime later...

Bronco, though, definitely raises an eyebrow or two. MT7 and nutty tires, pretty sick. If I were in the game I’d be all over the details. Still a bit early.

It's not really that the Tacoma is perfect, it's that everyone else is completely off the mark for "I want a truck I can drive around and have fun in too but I don't want to spend gobs of money or deal with issues or piss off my family or ..."
    At least that's my takeaway.

Agreed dont understand the criticism of calling it slow in this thread as i believe it is the quickest midsized truck sold today, that said i very much dislike it.

I was considering both the Ranger and Tacoma and can confirm that the 2.3L turbo four cylinder makes it a much faster and snappier truck. I would have happily paid extra to get a turbo 4 Tacoma with MT. It’s a great power plant in that truck. Long term reliability is probably better on 3.5L NA V6 though.

The F150 eco is a fast truck for what it is. I’ve had one try to race my Porsche a few times and I can beat him but I’m here to say for a stock pick up it will run.

Hopefully in a few years they put a 5.0 in that Bronco with a regular auto or a 6 speed manual. Ten speed gear box just sounds like a lot to go wrong and I thought, for now the manual only is available in the 4 banger
