Currently went with a goal zero yeti 1500x when the REI 20% discount came around. Seemed like the price limit to spend before building my own. Plus I can move it around. However I still want a dual battery in the hood just did redundancy

Tons of great info here - thanks to all for your contributions!

I’m new here and want to be able to run a heated blanket (180watt) for ~8 hours. I would like to find a 150+ amp hour dual battery set-up (where I have 150+ AH) on my house battery. Anyone know of a set-up or battery I could use for this?

I think you'll be out on the edge of the battery world with that requirement. I'd look into a good down sleeping bag because the batteries you'll need cost thousands...lol.
I'm no expert. You're looking at 4-5 hours of use at that level and that's a big battery.

Reserve capacity is based on 25A draw. A battery with 90 minute reserve supplying a 5A blanket would last 5*1-1/2 or 7-1/2 hrs. 2 of them would do a 10A blanket for 7-1/2 hrs. 180w is 15A*12v so you’d need 3 or more batteries with 90 minute reserve capacity.

My wife uses one of the small 12v electric blankets to stay warm in her zero sleeping bag. It has a 30 min shutoff. She will use it four or five times a night for 30 min. We have never consumed more than 15Ah in a night. This might be a way to conserve power. 150 Ah is a lot of battery.

I think I am going to sell my solar/dual battery setup. Wish some of you guys were closer to me to make the sale easier. First thing is to sell the 100w solar panel :anonymous:

Im not getting out, just going to start over with new and bigger stuff.

I admittedly don't know much about dual batteries nor have I read this whole thread, so sorry if I'm :deadhorse:

Anyone have experience/feedback with some of the cheaper or used lithium options? Looks like they're getting closer to the price point of the high-end AGM batteries.

Looking at making a simple dual setup with a DC to DC charger to run my fridge and maybe a couple other small things this summer while I live out of the truck for a few months.
