Dual Battery System(s)

Very clean setup op

 

They are awesome. I've taken the liberty of building a custom wiring harness for them to make installation easier. The harness has a built in connector and inline fuse.

 

not to put a damper on things but that seem like alot of weight on the fender. My heavy ass battery is making my fender fall apart and i already had to weld a brace for it.

 

I suppose time will tell but Ive done some extensive R&D on this design and so far, so good. The additional bracing on the inner fender is key. Ive been running my 56 lb Odyssey in this location for several thousand miles on the prototype tray and so far, no damage can be assessed.

I will absolutely need some feedback once this thing gets rolled out though!

 

just something to think about. I am running Die hard platinum 31m battery and stock battery for my aux.

I have my die hard in the stock position and relocated my aux battery in the bed of my truck.

 

I used welder wire to make this happen.

Interesting. The diehards/ odysseys are HEAVY batteries... especially the 31's! Thats a lot of battery! In your situation, a reinforced steel tray in between the battery and the stock fender wouldn't be bad idea.

 

I should switch them but i have to many things running on the 4 pole of the battery to switch up.

 

Thats the only way to go. Welding cable is usually a higher strand count and much more flexible. We'll be using 2AWG welding cable in our kits. Plenty big enough to carry 300 amps up to 10 feet.

 

yea i just figured if i ran with 1/0 gauge wire i would not run into any issue.

 

Ha! Beat me to it... I was just editing my post to say that. In your case, the 1/0 was a good choice.

just by curiosity is it recommenced to run a fuse on the positive side to the relay? Or is the run short enough not to worry? Cause i ran a fuse on both side of the relay.

If the wire run is long enough (over a foot or so) or if the wire is run through an area that could potentially get pinched in a collision, it needs a fuse. Its a case by case basis. Fuses are never a bad thing.

 

Initial looks seem to indicate a pretty solid design. I'd love to see what it looks like mounted up in there, sadly my engineering brain is bad at conceptualizing things like that.

 

Can't wait for you to start selling this, I will be at the front of the line. I have little hands on experience with the 12V system and I have multiple lights, switches and the blue sea isolator just waiting to get installed!
