Thanks for the diagram. I just received the usb outlet in the mail. Would adding 3 .1 amps to that circuit be a problem?

I have checked and rechecked just now. This fuse does NOT power the wire I am tapped in to..Maybe a difference in years or idk. Mine is a 14. But when removed the fuse the outlet still works. Either way I added a 3 amp fuse to the outlet and going to call it good. If you can help me out in another way please do.. I pulled all fuses previously and couldnt get it to quit charging. Id like to know for sure what I am tapped in.

just bought the dual usb outlet thanks for the link.... is there a constant hot or "always on" circuit beside direct hot from the battery? i would like to charge my phone or something without having to turn the key on... my old truck had the cigarette lighters that were always on and could plug a phone in while i work or something

Mine is a little different. I'll be installing mine with additional 12V and USB outlets in the bed as well. I'll be running constant power, fused from the battery, thru a relay. Switch in the dash to control everything. I'll also be rewiring the light in my camper shell to work in this circuit. And thanks OP for the write up. I learn a little more in every thread I read about this kind of thing. I'll try to post something on it if my work load ever allows me to get it installed.

I need to install a gigarette light in the glove box for a hidden plug, has anyone ever done that? Itll be running a dash cam and i ate seeing wires everywhere. i already dont like seeing my ipod cable running from the aux to the glove box.

Never have but shouldn't be hard! You should hard wire straight to the aux and run it behind the dash into the glove so you can stop seeing it! as far as the 12v cig power socket. just make sure its in the farthest back left or back right corner so it wont hit anything when you open the glove.! I'd run a dedicated circuit with an inline fuse to the battery!

With this being a constant 12vdc on with the ignition off, but still powering the blue LED, will this eventually kill the battery?

Not sure but think in theory one can kill a battery but in practice its unlikely unless the vehicle sat for a very long time. A 2mm LED draws something like 3mA? That's not very much at all. Somebody smarter than me would need to check actual draw and do the math.

Can anyone tell me what #11 on the same connector below the highlighted #4 goes to? The wire is black with a red stripe. Thanks in advance!

    Wheels and tires so far

I used your idea for the rear placement on the armrest console. I routed directly to the battery and used a 5A inline fuse. My next project will be to fabricate some sort of pocket for my phone to rest in against the center console ( front seat part ) next to my right leg while driving. I liked the concept of keeping loose wires out of the way and hidden as much as possible.

Do you have the link to where you got that specific outlet?

    here you go:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-USB-Ca...t-Free-Ship-/161796833581?hash=item25abd7c12d

Although when i bought it , it was only $2.75 but I guess pricing has gone up. depending on how fast you want to get it youll pay less if its from china vs from someone here in the states but its not much of a difference. same product!
