    K&n, flowmaster, plastidip, chipped, hids, daves
    Used larger tubing, no issues.

    Aem/k&n used an fj/runner tube size to develope the newer trd intake for 2nd gens. TRD runs lean due to tube diameter and flow.

    I used my Haltech Elite 2500 standalone EMS, to recalibrate the TB.

    With the FJ stock resonator boxes deleted, is the intake a lot louder with throttle? (i.e. similar to K&N and AFE intakes)

    Actually I didn't notice a difference in sound at all. Frankly I'm a little disappointed there, I would have liked some woosh!

    With the tubing as it is now, drove around quite a bit today, no check light and throttle response has been improved slightly and torque accross the power band seems to be improved. I can spin a little dropping the clutch when shifting from first into second while accelerating hard, until the trac kicks in anyway. Really need to do the fun switch mod. A sand pit I used to need 4lo to get through I was able to do in 4hi admittedly barley, was in 1st and right as I was getting out the motor was starting to lug.

    I think you're asking for MAF issues having the crankcase breather plumbed into the intake before the sensor like that.

    This is true. It should be post MAF. Otherwise the entering air is unmetered.

    Not only that, but oil vapor getting the sensor dirty as well.

    Hmm... A valid concern, again this is a work in progress, I don't belive there is much oil ingress from the breather, the breather is not the PCV valve, that said I do intend to instal an oil catch can at some point. Looking at the TRD intake it seems the breather is plumbed in after the MAF.

    Aside from that I can't imagine it's any worse than having a K&N/TRD oiled filter. Which is one of the reasons I wanted to get this airbox to work in the first place, to be able to use a dry oem filter.

    Not to worry about oil getting on the MAF from there. The engine pulls in fresh air from the hose, which should be post MAF, through the passenger side valve cover and timing cover. Then out through the driver side valve cover, into the intake manifold (upper plenum).

    Post MAF, it is all metered. Pre MAF, that air getting sucked into the intake manifold hasn't been read by the MAF, in grams per second, and that small amount then throws off the air to fuel calculations.

    Two sides of the coin though. The VERY slight oil mist that gets pulled into the intake after the throttle body lubes upper intake / valve stem / lower valve guides and upper cylinder.

    On my supercharged seadoo jetboat it was recommended to keep the crank case breather attached to the intake for this reason... people that didnt resulted in rusting valves which caused all sorts of issues (now granted thats an extreme use case but still)..... I dont see the reason for a catch can on any NA'd motor in our trucks. And using a vent to atmosphere tank like that is asking for sludge problems, as fresh air isnt constantly drawn through the motor to pull moisture out. There is a reason why the PCV system is present and its not ALL for emissions reasons.

    Correct. Only his current setup has it pre-MAF.

    Ah yes, dat es no bueno. Cant have what essentially amounts to a huge vacuum leak like that.

    Also, no spot for the FPR hookup.

    Well with the FJ stock tube the FPR and cover breather were plumbed into their respective stock locations, but yes I had a vac leak around my rigged maf setup.

    Now I have no vac leaks but my Breather and FPR are plumbed before the MAF.

    Once I get my 3.5" TRE MAF housing I'll start solidifying fitment and plumbing.
