this is probably a really stupid question but would 78" inch sliders fit on my 08 DC short bed?

but seriously, measure, then see If the legs and mounts have already been welded on or not. IF not you could place them where ever you needed when mounting. if they are already welded to the slider and are not made for a double cab tacoma I would say NO.

I'm at work on a 72 hr shift that started this morning and won't be able to see my truck until Friday morning. I want to order them and have them shipped so they are there when I get off work. Otherwise I would go measure it right now

78" is fine. Trailgear lists their AccessCab/DoubleCab sliders at 78".

You probably could fit a slightly longer slider but not much.

I'm pretty sure mine are 83" or 84", so 78" might be alittle to short.
