    As it sits today:

So I figured it was about time to start a build thread for my Tacoma to keep track of pictures and modifications that are going on over the next few months...

    As purchased:

    tacoma_after_purchase_zpsewq4wser_be41aacea96d1c086032da83a86ca2256b4886b3.jpg
    tacoma_after_purchase-2_zpspildocpk_4d7293f555fba78f3aacd67e48267dc61ce1fb1e.jpg

It had the shell, TRD faux beadlocks, and a puck kit. Quickly got to tearing it apart.

Why the OCD? Simply because I'm obsessive compulsive about every little detail. It takes me forever to decide on something. I'll have to research it for months before I buy it. Does that mean I nail it on choice each time? No; not even close. Which only makes me take more time the next time to decide on the next part. Ugh.

Post Icon lift and tire installation. The back is sagging ever so slightly due to the extra weight of the shell. After speaking with Icon they recommended throwing a rear block in to make up the sag from the shell. I've got 1/2 inch blocks going in soon.

After doing a lot of reading and watching on Satoshi grill how to's, I decided I could give it a good with look results. I purchased a grill from eBay to do the modification on and got to it. It took waaayyy to long to complete as I'm super anal and don't have a lot of free time. I even researched how to properly spray paint including sanding, wet sanding, and polishing. While it doesn't picture well and there are reflections in the images, it actually matches pretty well even for someone OCD like myself. I attached the mesh, middle grill section, and grill surround by zip ties to brackets that I epoxyed on. It was a nightmare and isn't 100% perfect but good enough for now. This way if the grill surround needs repainting I can snip those zip ties and take that off separately without removing the other pieces (no zip ties can be seen when installed on the truck). Apparently this is how some grill-makers attach their mesh as well. I would NOT do this over again and will likely get replaced some day but it is good for now.

Nice truck. My last BMW was 135I M sport pack. I traded it with the Tacoma. Yeah I still miss that little thing sometimes :(

Haven't been happy with how the rear of the truck sits. First the truck was squatting a little in the rear. Now with the rear block and Icon AAL the truck sits even which looks decent but I'd like the rear to sit higher for loading purposes. With the shell, tent, rack on top and loading up for camping I want the truck to not squat and be able to handle the weight. Plus I'd like to add a high clearance rear bumper this year too. I ordered a set of extended Icon remote reservoir shocks for a 2.5-3.5 inch lift as well as the OME Dakars to hopefully get things fixed. My current Icon AAL and remote reservoir shocks will be going for sale shortly. A shame, only like 3k miles on them.

    Another update.

My coworker sold his built Tacoma and let me talk him into selling me is All-pro u-bolt flip kit and Timbren bumpstops. Got them on and happy with the fit. They'll be perfect when I put the Dakar's on shortly. Don't mind everything being dirty. Had been super salty.

    2601144B-FD12-49D4-89E0-37964A08EA06_zps_fc224cfd69fc2a5ae427b7743085b0ad31312794.jpg

I also got my 4x sliders welded together with a buddy. Man, that's a TON of work to get them right. Knowing what I know now I would have gone premade and dealt with the angle they'd be at. I was super OCD about how high and tight I wanted them. They should look awesome when done, just took too much work. I just finished painting them and hope to have them welded on this week.

We ditched the 4x's small gussets and opted to do some much bigger. With how tight against the body/doors when opened, we wanted more protection against flex. Hopefully they stay solid!

Some updates to this for those who cares. Finally got my Prinsu Cabrac to go with my Toprac that I had sitting at work. Here is what it looked like right after install:

    9F52EF75-6D6D-41B0-B585-1A74B4E1EC21_zps_4fc0de66fcbed158d687fd480f0bf5c89bdb5bc1.jpg

We then went out on some extremely mild trails in the hills near my brother's house. Still fun.

    77EAB500-BC21-48EA-8BB9-B5EDC0221E81_zps_14eb248e05b750b3ff58cf43f19def623dc25942.jpg

The light bar was just thrown on without adjusting properly. It is now much lower and in a different position. I'm now playing around with the light bar position and whatnot to get the rack to be quieter. Right now it's pretty loud. When I get some time I'll play around with plugging holes and moving things around.

We went out to Moab for a weekend getaway and to try the truck out. It wasn't anything serious, no trails done, just camping with the family. Was a blast. Fortunately there was no signal on the cell phones so they were off the entire time so I didn't take any pictures. :( But I did get some as we were leaving with the new tent and borrowed awning.

I have been considering getting 3.5bs SCS F5's for some time. I have been undecided as I was worried about them sticking out to much. Well I put my TRD wheels up as a feeler and someone jumped on it so I was pushed to get the F5's sooner. My first color choice was black. Sold out. I then decided on bronze. Sold out. Only thing left was gunmetal. I really didn't want gunmetal but didn't want to lose a buyer for the TRD wheels so I just went for it. To be honest they're growing on me. I'm not currently super psyched on how far they stick out. We'll see how it grows on me overtime. Still don't love the gunmetal but it looks better than I thought it would. Still think the TRD wheels looked better (if only they were lighter and has better offset as to avoid having to use with spacers).

SCS aint lying when they say 19lbs. To the hundredth!

Again, disregard the bro lean; the custom Icon's just came in and will be on with the Dakar's next week. Still have a lot of stuff to install or tinker with but is difficult to find the time!

What size spacers were you running w/ the TRD wheels?

Do you still have the spacers? For sale?

Was running 1 inch up front and .75 inch in the rear. I've got a local buyer for them but if they fall through they'll be listed here on the forum for sale.

How are the 3.5 backspacing of the F5s working for you? Id prefer if I didn't run spacers for the TRD wheels. Do you think 4.0 or 4.3 of the other SCS wheels would work as well?
