Owner's manual states cruise control must be set at 28 mph or above and dynamic radar cruise control functions at 25+ mph.

Last year I took my 2019 sport on a 1,000 mile road trip and found that DRCC often operated all the way down to a full stop. Earlier this year I installed an aftermarket pro grille and garnish. After installing the sensor, I was concerned about the DRCC since the radar sensor position changed but found that the DRCC functioned perfectly. I just completed another 1,000 mile road trip and I've found that DRCC will not operate at speeds below 25 mph. I will be cruising at 60+ and approach traffic and the Tacoma will slow gradually but after it gets below the 25 mph threshold the system beeps and the automatic braking shuts off and I have to take over. Prior to the grille/garnish swap, the DRCC had no issue bring the Tacoma to a complete stop then accelerating again after traffic began moving.

I'm curious to other people's experience with DRCC at speeds less than 25 mph. From researching TacomaWorld, I've read that Toyota can recalibrate the radar sensor. I'm not sure that could be done to make my DRCC function as it did originally because the grille and garnish is aftermarket and also it's functioning consistently with what is stated in the manual. I also don't what to call the dealership and ask about this issue since I'm still under warranty and don't want to tell them explicitly that I'm having an issue after installing an aftermarket part.

Nobody uses cruise control? I searched TacomaWorld but most threads were regarding how they didn't like DRCC or how to turn DRCC off.

Mine always disengages at 25MPH and beeps. Though I've only used CC a handful of times. All original factory parts, but I did have the foam added from the millimeter wave radar sensor recall.

Thanks for the input. Guess I was just lucky before. IMO kind of silly that the truck will brake from 80 mph down to 25 mph then all of a sudden release the brake and expect me to take control. And I'm not talking emergency braking just typical CA traffic

It looks like Toyota has Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and also Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) on select vehicles. We have TSS-P on the 2018-2021 Tacoma with the basic DRCC. There is also a TSS 2.5 and 2.5+, but I couldn't find the DRCC specs for those.

Nope. I drive my truck not the truck driving me. Drove to Vegas and back and never thought about using cruise.
I have used it in the past if I need to stretch my leg or something tho so there's that.

I use CC on my truck every day and it has always disengaged around 25MPH or so. I'm pretty sure my wife's truck does the same.

    28 mph hour.

We had 25 mph hour speed limits for the school zone, but not an option.

Austin traffic (70 mph during rush hour is down to 30 and back up to 70, so DRCC appreciated).

Same here I use mine everyday on the main roads it helps save on gas and speeding tickets lol. All I know it works great but never noticed it's reaction under 25 mph. I will be watching more closely now.

I've been a big fan of CC since ... Forever, and an even bigger fan of the adaptive cc.
My wife, for some reason is 'scared' of using it. (??) Anyway, I just bought her a new Forester, which has 'adaptive' on it also. She and the MIL went to see some relatives a few weeks ago. On the way back, she wasn't paying attention to her speed and got a ticket for 15 mph over the limit. (Which I get to pay for btw...)
And I told her 'Just use the damn cc! If you set it for 2-3 mph over the speed limit, you'll never get pulled over .. Dear ...'
Well she started using it and now loves it. After a while, she said 'Hey! This works pretty awesome!' And I told her 'I've been trying to tell you that for 25 years now..' ;)

And they say men never listen lol. Glad that she likes it. By the way she should pay her own tickets just saying.

Sounds like the people in this thread all have DRCC shut down when speeds reach <25 mph which is consistent with what the manual states. I wonder if there's a way to have Toyota reprogram the unit to implement full-speed range DRCC per the information that dilbert was able to find. I'll be sure to update this thread if I make any headway. I think full-speed DRCC is becoming fairly common in new cars. My friend's Porsche has it and it's nice to have in stop and go traffic.

That depends on if it requires additional hardware or not. If it's simply a software change that would be awesome. There probably wouldn't be anything in techstream, since it isn't a factory option on the Tacoma, but I wonder someone like OV tune would be able to access/make changes to those parameters.

Did you ever figure this out? My truck has always turned the cruise control off at lower speeds but I would love for it not to.

When I lived in Germany I would use this daily on my 30 min ride to work. It would always turn off at 25 MPH or in my case 40 KPH. Haven't used it much since being back in the states.
