Thank you very much for these pictures and info on your OEM foglight install, I am currently working on my install as well. I was actually able to buy the actual OEM lights, relay, and interior switch for the dash off E bay myself for a reasonable price. Unfortunately I do not remember who I bought them from but the dealership confirmed they were OEM. I have an 06 Tacoma access cab 5 speed 4x4 and according to my dealership my truck was not wired for the fog lights so I am running my own wire. Yes I can and will provide pictures of my install if anyone wants them. I am Eric from S.E. N.C. and I have had my truck since it was new.

I might have some questions myself if I run into any issues. The hookup has been pretty straight forward, I will need to find a good place to tie into the switched 12 v for the relay so when I turn the key off the lights will also power off like the headlights. I want mine to operate with or with out the headlights on and I have seen the mod to bypass the relay so you can connect directly to the switched 12 v source.

Don't worry if you do not have the fuse box wired, Mine was not wired either. It's still possible to build your wiring harness and complete the install. That's what I am having to do. I am using # 14 ga stranded wire.

What size wire are you using to run to the actual lights, I found the plugs at my local auto parts store but I think the wires are only 16 ga, Will this be an issue ? I might have to try and modify the connectors and add larger gauge wire to them.

    Thank you,

    Eric

I finished my install last weeekend, purchased the fog light set from ebay - "05-10 TACOMA SMOKE BUMPER FOG LIGHTS+SWITCH+WIRING KIT" from dotcomracing on 04/15/2011. Now I have fogs that I can turn on any time when the key is trun to ON or ACC. The fogs go out when the key is turned OFF, or when I switch them off. The fog kit is an exact fit, but the switch is not worth a Da..., I picked up a (rocker) swith off ebay for a few bucks. Used an "add-a-circuit" to piggy back off the washer circuit so the lights a switched.

how do i get the wiring harness through the rubber thing in the firewall? Should I just cut a small hole or is there a way to peel it up and reseal it or something?

Look under hood, where the bunch of wires go to the cabin, look/feel around and there is a nipple that you just cut the tip (boy that sounds weird) and pass the wires trough there.

The rubber grommet was the part that I spent the most time on, just because it's in such an odd spot inside the cabin (it was easiest for me to just send two wires out and house most of the wiring neatly up under my dash, but I had to finagle myself under the steering wheel).

What I found was easiest was to get an old wire clothes hanger and use a pair of tin snips and cut it so you have one sharp edge. Use that and poke a hole in the grommet and make sure you try and stretch it a little. Since it's high quality rubber/latex, the hole almost seals up completely so it's damn near impossible to get anything through it. You have to kind've find the small pin-sized hole with your finger first, and then shove the head of whatever wire you're sending through.

Regardless, when I got to this point I think the wife heard me invent a few new swearwords, so if you're anything like me you'll be weaving a tapestry over lake Michigan (bonus points for anyone who can name the reference without cheating).

Here's the link to the original post, but let me dig up the photo and post it again:

I never went back to re-edit it to take out the question marks, but that's the wire that you must put your own connection onto. I went to the local Advance Auto and bought a solderable loop connector that I could put around my battery terminal underneath the nut (the connector had solder in it that would melt along with heatshrink plastic on the outside, so its perfect if you have a heat gun). Don't ask me what the HELL they expect you to connect that white wire to with that red plastic connector, because I don't have the damndest clue. Looks like I have the EXACT same kit you have, so if you have any other Q's post em up here.

Or, better yet, look back a page or two to all of my posts and photos detailing my install process.

    Good luck!

okay so i've connect the white wire to the positive terminal on the battery and grounded both ground wires but the lights still won't come on. Did I miss a step somewhere? Does anything connect to the negative terminal?

Did you take the red wire that I labeled as "Red wire for Add-a-Fuse" and connect it to your in-cabin fuse box with the "add-a-fuse" adapter?

If you set it up precisely like mine is, the fog lamps should be connected to the TAIL-10A fuse, which means they only get power when you have at LEAST your parking lamps on. If your parking lamps and headlights are both off, your fog lamps will never turn on.

If not, you need to give some more information for troubleshooting purposes for us to help you figure out what the deal is.

Didn't think that add-a-fuse thing mattered as far as just getting them to turn on. I'll try it and see if it works

Any word on how this went for you?

Like I said, I posted a ton of pics of my install and the parts that I used, so by referencing them that should help you. Lemme see if I can grab a few of those links to have them all rounded up:

My original post with photos of my specific kit, as well as some labeling: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ght-kits-08-09-10-tacomas-12.html#post2831231

Photos of the adapters and extra wire I bought at the store: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ght-kits-08-09-10-tacomas-12.html#post2832181

That second one includes the labeled photo of the add-a-fuse that I put on that red wire that goes to the cabin fusebox.

If you have that specific kit, you really shouldn't need anything else except those photos to guide your installation. Pretty self-explanatory install once you get down to it.

EDIT: There's another you'll need with this kit if you're not using the aftermarket switch and buying an OEM Toyota switch instead: the wiring guide. I followed this guide to a T after EPA re-posted it for me and I spliced my wires together, sealed them up properly, then finagled my new factory switch in its proper spot and put it away, without any testing and fixing of any of the connections: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ght-kits-08-09-10-tacomas-12.html#post2831266

Lowered 3/4, debadged, led tails, projector headlights with hids, billet grill, blacked out windows, painted front and rear bumper and grill shell. Inside, 4 crappy 15's, suede wrapped headliner and door panel inserts, alpine double din, few painted pieces inside, and every led is either blue or white.
very informative thread. I am not sure if it has been mentioned but I've seen some kits on ebay that suggest it comes with a factory switch in the auction?

Some come with an OEM style switch that fits in factory location, there is another kit which comes with a small switch that does no look right on stock location since its smaller
