You send it via Bluetooth one at a time...and it will not work if you have the contacts with e-mail, picture or etc. The contact has to be just a name and one phone #. Yeah I know.

I have a AT&T Tilt 2 so I go and highlight the contact > more > menu > send via bluetooth or beam...not sure about other phones.

Google'd this so its not me to thank and not sure if this works for the 72E but try it and let us know:

OK....you CANNOT have the bluetooth on when starting transfer. But make sure your PRE is registered. This is important because it enables the phonebook/transfer menu.
    1. Choose the contact you want to transfer..
    2. click on "contact" drop down...click "send contact"....click "send to car kit"
    3. At this point, the Pre Bluetooth menu will come up and search for a carkit...make sure your car car kit is in phonebook/transfer mode. When you carkit appears on your PRE click on it. Give it about 10seconds to synch and send contact....

I do not understand what you mean by "you cannot have the bluetooth on" If you turn off the bluetooth on the Pre you automatically disconnect from the 726E.

Again that is not me who gave you those steps...I found it only to help you. I don't own a Palm Pre nor iPhone. All I have tried with my 726E was my old Tilt and now Tilt 2.

    I didn't download the map yet because I don't have a 2 gig sd card (4 gig won't work...
From what I understand there are 2 steps and you need a sd 2G card and blank disk. Maps cost $79.00 U.S currency

    1. Download "Toolbox" then Sync Tools from naviextras.com and install sync tools to the sd card.

    2. download the update map and burn it to the CD-R.
This CD-R will now function as the update disk.

(*Please make sure that the data file name (MN010071.vbk) is not renamed or altered in any form. Please ensure data file is burnt to root directory. Please burn upgrade disc by "ISO9660" format or "Joliet". Any change to the file name will invalidate the update disk and not allow the update to be performed.)

Insert the cd and follow the prompts ( http://www.eclipse-web.com/us/avn726e_mapupdates/step01.html )

    Next using the SD Card...
insert the SD card that contains Sync Tool into the AVN726E/AVN76D units that have already completed the Step 1 update.
Follow the prompts listed here... http://www.eclipse-web.com/us/avn726e_mapupdates/step02.html

I hope this works out for you let us know.

    Mike

Yeah I got the software update to install and I also don't have a 2 gb SD card on hand...just a 2gb micro SD and a SD adapter but I didn't buy the map update yet cause when I d/l'd the Toolbox and add the SyncTool in my micro SD, the Toolbox won't register my card as being connected. So far the firmware update eliminated the "GPS signal lost" voice...

Edit: as for the beep...go to menu > info > settings > guide tone beep > off.

Thanks for the beep directions! it worked, Sorry for the stupid questions but I searched the head unit for about 1/2 hour and couldn't find it..This unit has so many hidden features it really is incredible!

Hopefully you get the map upgrade working as I'm sure there will be a load of questions.. So far I cant get my laptop card reader to register.. maybe we can skip this step and just load the sync tool on the card and load it in the head unit then follow the steps and load the cd after ?? Then again it would suck big time to render the eclipse nav useless if the proper steps were not followed. I think I will wait for the proper card
    Good Luck

Welcome, thanks for posting the update. I don't think I will be doing the map update anytime soon. I rarely use my Navi so I will wait as well.

Has anyone tried to use a splitter on the USB input? I mean like a Y adapter so you can have an iPod plugged in and also a USB memory stick as well. Do you think that would work?

I own a Palm Pre and have not had any luck transferring contacts

I will try this, but from what I understand the problem with adding contacts could be from having multiple numbers for a contact, and pictures on a contact.

Correct...on my Tilt and Tilt 2 (the only two phones I've owned since installing my 726E)...I have to strictly have just the contact name and number only. No email, photo or extra phone numbers for it to transfer via Bluetooth.
