It definitely improves acceleration in my truck. The shift points change substantially. However, it gets such poor mpg in the city already I never have used it more than twice as it's a waste of fuel.
I'd say it's the equivalent of a tow button in most modern vehicles.

The most significant thing that I noted using ect is on the freeway it will more readily downshift with considerably less throttle input when you want more response at freeway speeds. What I like about when the ect is off is the lockout converter kicks in at about 52MPH giving more "launch" IE torque that seems to be missing with ect on. Give and take.

The ECT mode on seems to be how the truck should of came from the factory before Toyota restricted it to hit MPG numbers. Coming from my last car I actually thought something was wrong with the pedal throttle response... until I tried the ECT button.

Same.... When I throttle at normal acceleration I am always like "wtf is going on... gooooooooo already...". Its laggy and unresponsive. I practically drive on ECT at all times.

Maybe @MESO will make an external ECT light relocation for you... I for one would like the world to know I've gone into ECT mode. :burnrubber:
