Just got back from the gas station, 2nd fill up since using ECT regularly. Only 19.9 mpg this time. That is about average for me, mixed city and highway driving, and about 100 of those miles were put on while driving directly into a 16-18 mph wind.

Have'nt noticed what my milage does ECT/no ECT, however I did get frustrated with shift points on a recent trip.
Climbing a long hill on the Interstate at 60ish MPH, punch it to stay at 65 (shifts into 3rd), reach 67, fluff the throttle to stay at 67 (and maintain 3rd gear) then it shifts BACK INTO O/D, hill pulls speed down to 62, then repeat this process about four times. Very frustrating, tryed ECT, it helped but still shifting UP-down-UP-down-UP-down. Anyone find this to be a problem?

were you towing/hauling anything? that is what ECT is made for. it basically changes the limits of rpms that triggers OD to kick in.
i've found that i can pull hills and pass vehicles on the interstate while keeping at a lower rpm with ECT on and OD rarely kicks in. this is all driving with nothing in tow or in the bed.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
I found my truck did poorly climbing hill in 4th, slowing way down even when I punch it. Even slight hills. It has issues staying in 4th as you said. I check my spark plugs and they looked like the originals (w/ 90k + millage). I changed these and it runs great now. No jumping out of gears or slowing in 4th.

Was'nt towing, or hauling more than a nights luggage. I keep up on my maintenance. I'm starting to wonder is something is out of calibration, my first thought was maybe the shift points could be changed in the computer.?.?.

I'm goin to compare my mileage with the ECT just to seeif my results are the same as everyone else. It really doesnt make sense but, looks like it may be true.

I have to admit i do get better mileage with it on. My last tank I got 321.5 miles on it when I filled up, and almost crossed the 20 mpg milestone.

ok, i have played with both settings and have,nt really noticed much difference in mpg. i drive my 04 everyday at work with a good mix of highway and stop and go. i do prefer the ect/pwr setting due to the responsiveness though when getting on the freeway. my6

ETC mode all the way baby! Even if it doesn't improve mpg, the shift points are just right for me. :D

Mine does the same thing, I just figured that it is just the way the it is and stopped worrying about it and got used to it. Although I would love to see it perform better.
