I've taken it in twice now for TSBs, this is the only time they gave me such a hassle. First time was for the third brake light and they fixed that without batting an eye, and that was more work. Who knows, different person, different attitude.

I've had the chance to put about 1200 miles on the truck since the tune.

Drove out to our place in Southern Utah this week. I've done the trip from the SF Bay Area to Virgin countless times in the Tacoma.

This is the first time, however, that I've done it in "D".

My initial observations stand, the improvements in the shift points and the ability to hold gears on hills is a dramatic improvement, noticed this climbing the Tehachapis. climbing into Vegas and the Virgin River Gorge on I15.. We also own a 2018 4R and as far as I'm concerned it's shifting at least as well if not better than the 4R.

Mileage is also up a tick. I suavely average about 17.5 on the drive and once we get into Utah, about 19 driving around town. The corrected mileage on the trip into Utah was 18.2 and we're averaging about 19.6 around town.

Someone is looking around for T4R ECU TSBs. If you stumble across one, we can post that up.

The brake light TSB was a bit more infamous?

But, yeah. The goodwill and customer satisfaction they could get with these painless updates would be huge, esp when folks have traded off their Tacos for these reasons.

    Good for you!
I noticed a very distinct smoothing of the throttle response after applying TSB 0092-20 (ECU updated from 04B80 to 04B81). I think that you will be pleased.
Also, with Techstream you can make some nice customizations, like turn-off the seatbelt buzzer, and turn-off the open-door buzzer - good stuff!

I'd love to find one...the 4R is a wet dog.

I updated my Ecu using a genuine tactrix 2.0. Changed my seatbelt chime and blinker function using techstream and now for some odd reason my truck will not connect to an iPod or phone through the USB port in the truck which previously worked. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it? It’s saying that it cannot read the audio files from the iPod. All other functions of the truck work perfectly like it did before but this.

I have not heard of that issue in the past. The H/U has its own FW. You can check @ktbell444 's FW Update thread to see if yours is up to date.

You can try resetting the Customizations to Default and see if that corrects the issue?

Please let us know what you find.

You're out of date. The Audio Version 010192 is old. If you open the 13TDANNA-DA11 file from that thread in WordPad, it will show the new version. It will take a while since the file is so big.

I updated the software and it was successful. But it still shows this message when plugging in a iPhone or iPod. How does one tell if they messed up the ECU, or bricked?

    Thanks for the update.

If your Taco starts, you're 100% not bricked.

Did you try backing out the Customizations? You can't back out the ECU flash. But, I just can't see how those would affect the USB input.

In the first post are instructions for Learned Value and AT Resets. That is something that I recommend after a flash. You might give that a try if you didn't already.

The other fix for strange shit is to pull the battery terminals. Negative off first and on last. With them both off, touch them together for 10sec then reattach.

Are you using the same cable you've used before? Do you have another data capable cable you can try?

I restored the audio to default settings, nothing changed.

The cable I tried originally never connected to the truck it wouldn’t let me. I have since bought a laptop and used the tactrix cable with no extension and it worked perfectly.

I mean the cable between the iPhone and the truck.

I was talking about the TS Customizations, not your H/U settings. Turn signal flash and the seat belt chimes that you noted.
