What did you say to them just out of curiousity to get them to be willing to do it? Did they give you any notations on the paperwork?

Honestly, I just told them I hear there's a tsb for 6spd for shifting issues...and they checked and found that there's an update available n updated it.

I went to the dealer here yesterday armed with all this information. They still say it does not apply to manual transmission trucks. I have a 17 DC TRDOR 4 WD 6 speed manual. Any advice? I’m a little bummed here with the stumble.

I don’t know if anyone in TX has done it. I know AZ OR and CA are fully rocking it.

Anyone in 559 / Fresno area had a dealer run the update or have the Tactrix cable? I'd be happy to kick in with cash or beer!

Dropped the Taco off at the dealership for the reflash. A couple hours later they call me to tell me there is no update for manual transmissions ..... when they confirmed there was when I made the appointment...... does anyone have solid proof that TSB 0058-018 includes manuals

I told my service guy surge between 40 and 50 mph, and power loss and stuttering sometimes in 1st and second after clutch fully disengaged. Showed him 2 invoices that I got from here where the update was applied to manuals. He stated if my Vin showed an update with the symptoms he would apply it. Obviously my Vin showed the update because it was done. @Jake27 20180915_130607.jpg

I appreciate the reply. He said my vin didn't show any updates and he couldn't apply 0058-018 because it is specifically for automatics....

Hi guys. I'm relatively new here on TW, but wanted to share I got my 2nd service done today at Sean Sargent Toyota in Grande Prairie Alberta (this is in Canada for those who don't know), and just mentioned the TSB to the service advisor and with no questions asked he said they could get it done for me. He didn't even double check that it was for an AT, as I have a MT (2018 Sport) only until the tech comes out and said he wouldn't do it because it only applies for AT only. I persisted to tell him to check my Calibration ID and check of it matches up with the TSB and I pinpointed on the document itself that it matches but he still didn't want to do it for fear that it would ruin my truck.

I just re-assured him all would be well and eventually He got his service manager to sign off (to cover his butt on the work order) on it as my ID matched the TSB And I got it done!

Bottom line is be calm and respectful but persistent, some of these techs or service advisors won't do it just for lack of knowledge thinking it might ruin your truck but get them to understand the situation.

I'll give an update soon in regards to difference in driveablity as I do lots of Highway travel, but as for now, 1st and 2nd gear shifts and lower RPMs have seemed to be way more responsive and smoother.

    Cheers!

Update after my truck spent 28 hours at Findlay toyota.

So they showed me the printout of my vehicle health report, and it shows that there is an update available.
They gave me 5 reasons why they wouldnt update it.

1st there is no update available. I then pointed it out that there was
2nd they could not replicate the surging complaint. I then showed them a video of the surging.
3rd they wont update without a check engine light. I said other dealers are doing it.
4th the update has been known to cause other issues. I said toyota is selling 2018s with that update.
5th the tsb is for automatics.
I asked for toyota corporates phones number.

I called toyota corporate and got no where. They said try wasting more of my time at other dealers, in hope that they will do it.

Notice that it seems like rev hang is reduced. I don't have to wait as much before I can clutch and shift.
