we have kangaroo rats in our neighborhood. I have found that Peppermint Oil works pretty well to keep them out of the truck.

I place a couple cotton balls in used pill containers. I spay the Peppermint Oil onto the cotton. I place 4 containers, one each corner of the engine bay under the hood. Peppermint Oil can be purchased at any health care store (High Health, etc). A large bottle is about $25. It lasts me about 6 months.

Time to get a cat. If you have a cat. Fire it and get a new one.

We used to have lots of mice/rats around. I'd pull the lawn mower out the shed and 8 would scatter. Somehow managed to get some outdoor cats. Haven't seen one since.

Biggest problem I've had is mice nesting in the air cleaner.

Here's my solution - a piece of hardware cloth in the intake:

Put dryer sheets in your engine bay, keeps critters away, and leaves the engine smelling like fresh folded clothes. Win,win!

Best solution. We have a couple feral cats in the hood that are natural born rodent killers. Everybody leaves them alone to do their work.

Went to a buddy's place and parked the truck facing the garage. We're sitting in the garage having a brewski and watch a deer mouse jump out from under my wheel well and scurry off. A minute later another jumps out and scurries off. Then a third one (field mouse) jumps out and runs right by us into the garage.

So he ends up being the garage mascot, with his little bowl of seed, bread, etc. So Wallace ends up living there for a month or so and is being hand fed by this time.

One day four of us are sitting in the garage, Wallace grabs a piece of bread from my buddy and heads out of the garage and across the driveway on his way to the woodpile. A hawk comes out of nowhere and scoops him up.

    Here's to Wallace.

My wife's Explorer was a victim of rodent wire chewing. It happened while parked at work, the hospital lot is next to a city park with many large oak trees. We guess it was chipmunks, since they are everywhere in that park.

When she picked it up at the dealership, they said it is a common problem. They did take preventative measures by applying Honda Rodent Tape to the more susceptible areas.

    Yes, Honda Rodent Tape.

I've had great luck just using a rust proofing spray on the wiring harness and wire plastic covers under the hood.... The rest of the wires are already covered by my Corrosion Free guy... lots of mice... never an issue yet.... except the air box nest in 2006 one time....

I was doing a LOF on the dealership owners escalade. Pop the hood and this giant ass river rat is looking at me. Some of the hourly guys chased it it. But I bet it was every bit of 4lbs
